Okay but wouldn't stay here again

Although the lobby and breakfast area have been renovated, it seems the rooms have not (especially the beds). All in all this is a very basic hotel with a decent buffet breakfast, nice staff and the location is fairly Central. But with all of that said, I still wouldn't send a friend there. (But if you are budget conscious and can sleep on any bed, go for it.) Also I would agree with previous comments - you will get a lot of noise at nightfrom Vaci Utca below (ear plugs work) and our "air conditioning" didn't seem to work at least the cooling part. We had to open the window ( the 4" that it allowed). Enjoy Budapest - it truly is a beautiful city! Definitely check out the Danube by day, sunset and night (everything is lit and is very picturesque). Also try the local food! Cheers!

Do Not Stay Here! Choose Another Hotel!

Checked in and went out to explore the city. Upon returning that evening, we pulled down the bedspread to reveal dirty sheets stained with red marks and hair. We had ignored the stained carpet, discolored walls, poor furniture and dirty/stained hallways, but were grossed out by the sheets and the dirty and stained bed spread. Furthermore, the air conditioning was not working properly. We had not been impressed with the reception we received from the front desk staff, but they did send a bell boy to our room within about 15 minutes to show us another, larger room. We accepted the room, but pulled down the bedspread after he left and there was hair and pubic hair on the sheets. The Mercure has a policy of not refunding your money, and now we know why. Most unsuspecting tourists will be forced to stay here since they've already paid. We used the internet (available for euros per day in their rooms or for free in their lobby) to book another hotel nearby, The Kempinski, which is well worth it! Kempinski has a pool, spa, in-room wifi, friendly staff, clean attractive rooms and excellent amenities. A "night and day" experience.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Some people recommend forgoing the expensive hotel breakfasts for McDonalds, which is an option. We found a moderate option in a square right on Vaci, the pedestrian shopping street. The Cyrano hotel has significant outdoor seating just south Vorosmarty Square with lots of breakfast choices for very reasonable prices. The seating is in the square across Vaci from the Burger King.

Mercure Budapest City Center review

We were at the Mercure from October 24th to the 30th. One friend was at a different hotel by mistake and the staff did all they could to locate our friend. The location of the hotel couldn't be better being in the center of the city, by all the restaurants, shopping and public transportation. The coffee at the hotel was bad and the breakfast was 8 euro minimum so we ate breakfast outside the hotel. Also, guests need to be warned that calls from the hotel room are an additional 6 euro each.

The panini cafe behind the hotel serves breakfast for less than most places in the Deak square. You can walk many places from the hotel including Andrassy Street. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from the Danube River.

Os quartos são pequenos.O chuveiro é muito próximo à parede, o que dificulta o acesso para tomar banho. Preço alto não inclui o café da manhã,que é muito caro:17,00 euros.
