Romantic weekend away

The hotel is in an excellent location near to the restaurants, shopping, River Danube and transport. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful - can't fault that at all. Breakfast was great with excellent choice. Only minor point is that there was no tea/coffee in the room which one would expect of a 5 star hotel. Otherwise - excellent hotel.

Exceptional hotel

What a wonderful choice of hotel this was for a 5 day trip to Budapest. The location is absolutely ideal: very close (5 minute walk) to major shopping areas and restaurants and an equally short walk to the banks of the Danube. It is also very close to a main Metro underground station. Of course a high level of amenities is expected in a luxury hotel, but what set the Kempinski on a higher level was the staff. They were possibly the most professional and friendly we have ever encountered in a luxury hotel. Nothing was too much trouble and - a lovely touch - at any time any of the services were accessed by phone we were instantly addressed by our (difficult to pronounce!) name. We were in a superior room but (being true Brits and loving our cups of tea) we awarded room comfort one degree less than perfection as there was no kettle as standard. From personal experience we cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. A couple of suggestions to travellers: - Hungary adopted a 'no-smoking in public places' policy in January this year: smokers will appreciate there are smoking rooms at the hotel. - Request a room on an upper floor overlooking the park in front of the hotel: great views and quiet at night.

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

When going from the hotel to the airport ask reception to book the hotel private taxi. The cost is 7500 HUF (about £22 and roughly £6 more than a regular taxi), but is available at the time booked and simply waits until you decide to leave. You can add the cost to your bill.

A Must!

Fabulous! I am trying to think of anything negative and I am coming up short. I have stayed in some fantastic hotels and this definitely makes the shortlist. This hotel would be worth the cost at normal rates (though I probably wouldn't have booked it) - the package flight and hotel was a steal, though I made up the difference with room service and spa treatments! The staff was helpful and accommodating, the food and beverage product was quality - only once I ordered a glass of champagne and it was served flat - when I mentioned it, they brought out a new bottle, opened it at the table and were totally professional. The location is outstanding (they were setting up a bit of a Christmas market right behind the hotel). You can walk practically everywhere from this location. It was a fantastic experience and I hope to revisit.

I definitely suggest using their car service from the airport. It eliminates the time spent dealing with taxi or other means of transport.

Treat you like a VIP every day

Service at the Kempinski cannot be any better. My bed was made twice a day because I take naps. The concierges were always friendly and knowledgeable. The infinity pool with water jets and waterfall was a pleasure and the headphones with relaxing music on the lounge chairs seemed a guilty hedonism. Breakfast is not to be missed. What a treat.

Great location

Great location for the first time visitor in Budapest; all three Metro lines are less than a block away from the hotel. The hotel is right next to the shopping district and centrally located to many Budapest attractions.
