Great staff, all you need
Although this hotel would not be rated 4 star in more northern European countries, it had all we needed. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room is sufficiently spacious and the balcony is really big. We tried the wellness centre and found it very enjoyable but would not want to share it with others (you can book it for private use, it just costs a little more). The breakfast was well prepared and the dining room was light. We also ate at the hotel on the first night. the duck was excellent but the noodles were not good. A bottle of sparkling wine in the room on your arrival costs next to nothing. The location is excellent for Buda. If you want to go to the Pest side, the metro and tram lines (both very easy to use) are a 5 minute walk away (down steps). This was not a suitable hotel location for anyone with walking difficulties, but was good for a romantic break. The area around the hotel is very quiet in the evenings.

Opera tickets can be purchased on line before you go. It is safe and incredibly cheap (New Year tickets for two including a glass of champagne at the end of the performance cost us less than 5€ for front of balcony location.

great little hotel
We booked this hotel because we couldn't get on the post trip of a Viking River Cruise. They stayed at the Hilton about 2 blocks away. I'm glad we didn't! This hotel was a really nice little hotel. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant was about $15. It was very decent. The hotel personnel were very helpful and friendly. The bed just had two duvets. We Americans are used to a sheet. We didn't ask for one. We could have used a washcloth. For the price, this was a great stay very near the Castle district.

Hotel Castle Garden in Budapest
Hotel Castle Garden in Budapest
I booked three rooms for two nights. Great location, with cheap garage parking. Located on the Buda side of the city, it is a 10-minute walk to the Budapest castle and church, and a 3-minute walk to the Buda restaurants and shops. The taxi stand was literally right around the corner from the hotel, so it was easy, whether traveling on foot, taxi, or car. The included free breakfast was AWESOME...beyond any continental breakfast with great eggs, meat, etc. I did not try their lunch, but the portions on their dinner was a little on the small side...actually, very small -- so consider ordering apps and soups with it...there is dessert also. Prices were average.

Good hotel in great location
I was in Budapest for a short business meeting and a few days vacation. My wife tagged along for the vacation part. We spent five nights at the Castle Garden which proved to be in a perfect location for us. It's just outside the walls of Buda Castle and a five minute walk from the Moskvya Ter transportation hub. I was able to take a city bus directly from there to a rather remote meeting site, while my wife bought a seven-day bus pass and roamed all over town using Budapest's fine public transportation system. The hotel was excellent value with well-furnished mid-size rooms and a helpful front desk. It also has a good restaurant which provided an excellent full breakfast.

For music lovers, try to attend a performance of the Hungarian State Opera; we took in Strauss's "Der Rosenkavalier". The singing was excellent and the Opera House itself is a gem. Most amazing of all is the unbelievably low cost of tickets. We booked (and printed) our own tickets via the Internet for mid-range balcony seats which cost less than five dollars apiece!

Wonderful Budapest time
We spend a weekend with my friend to celebrate his birthday, and we chose Budapest, and a small friendly hotel near the charming district of the Buda Castle. The rate was very reasonable and we were surprised by the kindness and the friendliness of the staff - both in the hotel and in the restaurant. The location was quiet but very close to everything - we can reach all the sights in 10-15 minutes. We drove to Budapest by car and we can park in the hotel's garage (we get it only for 10 Euros!!!), but during our stay we rather use the public transport - it was eeasier for us.. The hotel was clean, the rooms and the building is modern and very cosy... we got a room with terrace where we could have a glass of wine every evening... it was so romantic. The breakfast was delicious! The hotel stuff was helping us in everything, and they gave us good tips for unforgatable programs! Altogether: I hope I can come back in the future... thanks for everybody in the hotel for the nice weekend!:)

Just relax in Budapest
in some respects a basic 3.5 to 4 star hotel, in as much the rooms were comfortable but standard and no laundry service appeared to be offered, however its location, its design, its restaurant and , in general, its friendly staff made for a great place to stay and to relax. It nestles in a quiet avenue immediately below the wall of the castle district so that the splendour of that area is one minutes walk away and sunset behind the Buda hills has to be a highlight of any day . It is very easy (a few minutes walk)to access the major transport hub on the Buda side and a further 10-15 minutes will have you in the 'tourist' heart of Pest. Unless you believe that all hotels in all major cities have to be 5 star reproductions of each other and do not value peace and contentment you cannot locate a better place to stay than the Castle Garden.

Nice hotel with great location!
The Hotel Castle Garden was good for the price, with a decent restaurant attached. Since we were thare on an exceptionally hot day, we noticed that the corridors were not air conditioned, and you had to insert your room key card into a device in the room to make the a/c run. That worked out okay, though. And we were only a block or two from the castle grounds entrance, plus a few more blocks to the Fisherman's Bastion, an incredible place that has awesome views of the Danube and the Pest side. We would stay at this hotel again.

Ideal Budapest hotel
Hotel Castle Garden was definitely the best hotel choice we could have made in Budapest. It was small, friendly, new, and provided excellent service. We ate in the restaurant our first evening there and our meal was excellent. With our 20% off for being a hotel guest, the price was very resaonable. The included breakfast was so good! There were many selections, including hot items each day. The location was perfect. We were 2 minutes from the gate to the Castle District and a short walk to the metro and a huge mall. We could easily catch transportation to the Pest side or walk to it across the Chain Bridge. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest. The price was the best we could find and everything about the hotel made it a good value.
