Perfect view!
This hotel, built during the glory days of communism in Hungary, offer a great deal for your money. A view, especially from the upper floors (I was on the 13th floor). If you have the chance, ask for upper floors. The hotel is really less than 30 minutes from almost any place in the city even by public transport. A very friendly staff will help you when needed. The restaurant is nice, especially on Sundays when they have 50% off deals. The only thing that really bugged me was that the minibar's door would not close properly. Highly recommend this hotel!

Great Hotel
This hotel is excellent. it is comfortable, has friendly helpful staff, is good value and is served by buses, trams and a metro 5 minutes walk (if you don't take the tram to the metro!). The only problem was that the rooms were kept far too hot! We turned down the heating but the maids always turned it back up! In spite of this one minor problem, I would highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Budapest. This is the second time we have stayed there and will definitely book it for our next Budapest week.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
Get the 4 or 6 tram 6 stops to Troffea. All you can eat and drink for 5,000 HUF (about £16.00). The food is excellent, with the main course cooked as you wait. Hungarian Champagne, wine and beer is included in the price. All in all a superb evening.

Outstanding Deal
The hotel was decent. We were looking for a hotel that would provide us with a warm bed and the basics because we only planned to stay in it long enough to sleep. We loved the complementary breakfast and plan to stay there again.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
Hop on the tram that stops right in front of the hotel and go to Moszkva Ter station and from there you can basically go anywhere in the city.

hotel budapest
On the whole, Hotel Budapest was adequate. The lobby is large and quite nice but the rooms were small and a little dingy. (The bathroom was spotless however.) It is not easy to find if you don't know your way around Budapest but it is fairly simply if you know the train and tram numbers and directions to go. Surrounded by beautiful hills with nice views, across from recreational park with tennis courts, etc. I have two complaints: 1) the staff was friendly enough but did not offer any help or ask if we needed any; 2)on the final day the front desk clerk gave us the wrong information about which train station to go to so we missed our scheduled train (and barely caught the next one).

Money-saving tip:
Not Applicable
try to use public transportation to get to the hotel; it is a ways away from train station and I imagine taxi would be quite expensive. Also, don't purchase Budapest card unless you plan on seeing ALOT of museums; otherwise, it is not worth it. It is cheaper to just by a 2 or 3 day transportation ticket.
