A very good hotel
Conveniently located right next to the Western Train Station that runs trains to/from the airport every 15-20 minutes, plus an underground station right outside for a ride to downtown (3 stops). Good bathroom with a separate bath and shower. Room is quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is plentiful and good quality. Staff cannot be friendlier. Very good hotel. We will stay again.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Cafe Kor, at 17 Sas Road, serves really fantastic foods. And although the foods and services are excellent and nicely presented, they are not all all expensive. For instance, chicken breast with peach and sesami seeds served with rice cost £8. Duck breast in tangerine sauce served with rice cost £9. Enormous piece of Vienna veal cost £8 served with salads and potatos. Puddings cost £2 - £3 each. We ate there every night, and it was full every night even on weekdays. Reservation is a must. Located near Arany Janos metro station (10 mins walk). Check its website.

good location, excellent service
we had pre-booked two rooms and the couple traveling with us backed out. we couldn't get a refund but the hotel manager upgraded us to a suite. the executive level is well worth the little extra $$, because it includes breakfast and free internet in the breakfast room which would cost more than the upgrade. huge mall next door with plenty of food choices and most tours pick up at the hotel.

A VERY sweet deal, indeed!
First, I rated "value" as 3 only because I would never pay the full price for a hotel room, so I cannot really judge. Since I paid HALF price, it was an incredible bargain to me. THANK YOU ORBITZ! I must advise that I have never used Orbitz, or any other on line travel service, before. This first experience was a "test." I accidentally came across an Orbitz "deal" the day I was planning this trip. HALF-PRICE at a wonderful hotel!!! But, having heard horror stories from other's internet planned travels, I expected problems. I had NONE. Orbitz kept me informed via email including a reminder just before the travel. My reservations were in perfect order; no surprise fees, no disputes or issues, I had NO problems at all. As for this hotel - the Hilton Budapest West End; it is one of two Hiltons in Budapest. I did pass the other in my tours of the city and I can report that the other is in a "picturesque" location. BUT it is not convenient to much of anything. However, it has spectacular views. In my opinion, THIS Hilton (the West End) is far better situated. While I am sure both would meet your expectations for a Hilton, the "West End" offers incomparable convenience: Not only is the hotel directly connected with a back lobby entrance to a full scale mall, in which any American would feel at home, the mall offers a WONDERFUL food court with everything from Chinese and Thai to Indian, Turkish and - OF COURSE - Hungarian food. If you dislike being tied to expensive hotel restaurants or prefer absolutely casual dining, you cannot beat this. The mall, again, accessed DIRECTLY from the hotel lobby, also provides an entrance to Budapest's fine subway system. In bad weather, there is NO need to go outside until you reach your destination. In comparison, I do NOT believe the Castle District Hilton has any subway station nearby. The Hilton West End is on Vaci Utca. However, this is not the same Vaci Utca as the covered market (although the market is only three subway stops away - this is THE place to buy your paprika, saffron and souvenirs). It is a bustling business district with upscale shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance. The ONLY complaints that I had were that the air conditioning did not seem to handle the 95 degree/high humidity very well and WHO sleeps under a heavy comforter in the Summer?

Short walk from hotel
USE the Budapest subway system. Maybe you will have no idea how to pronounce the names of the stations, but your eyes will tell you if you are at the correct one. Their subway was awesome and reasonably priced. I am a veteran of several subway systems and can tell you, this one is FANTASTIC!
