Great place to stay

Great location and very, very friendly staff. It's clearly an older hotel that's been tarted up but it's clean and very good value. The breakfast buffet is extensive and the coffee is good which was a pleasant surprise. The bar is open 24/7 and there's an overall chilled feeling in the place. The only downside is the rooms are a bit small and the walls could be thicker. But I'll definitely stay there again on my next visit to Budapest.

The red change bureau around the corner (turn right when leaving the hotel, then right again) charges less commission than the very unfriendly woman in the yellow one.

Value for price

The breakfast offering was elaborate and satisfying, even for a vegetarian like me. The twin beds and comforter were bit small for my height (I am 182 cm). However the rest of the experience was good.

I rated this hotel as all 1 stars because when we arrived at 6 pm we were informed our 2 prepaid, guaranteed for late arrival, non refundable rooms were not available as the hotel was overbooked. This hotel was located close to the Danube and sites we wanted to see but we were forced to stay at another hotel owned by Zara but about 4 miles from the Danube which took over an hour to find.

Don't book this hotel as it is a smaller size close to the tourist sites and seemingly used as a bait and switch to Zara Hotels larger hotel in a less desirable location.

Great location and helpful staff at a great price!

The room/hotel was always very clean, and the breakfast included was good and always well stocked with waiters/staff around at all times. The location is excellent - a short walk between two metro lines, the tram and around the corner from Vaci Utca, a main shopping street. Staff were always helpful when we asked advice on which transport to catch somewhere. Overall a good experience!

Excellent value for money

The hotel was just as described. The reception/restaurant area was really swish so a good first impression. The room was a little small but the good sized bathroom and shower more than made up for it. We had dinner one night for 7 Euro for 3 courses and it was good and plentiful. Just watch the price of the wine. The hotel was in a great location very near to the Danube and the Great Market. There were lots of restaurants around us to choose from and the buses and trams ran from the square. We had no noise from the rooms next door in the hotel as some reviews had mentioned. The only downside was that the staff, althought pleasant did not give us very good information and one night we gave up on getting a drink from the bar. Overall a great hotel and would return

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

There are a lot of ways of getting around the city and we were recommended to use one of the hop on hop off services. Be careful as some lines finish running at 13.00 and it is a slow way to get from A to B if you don't have a lot of time. If you just want to go around the route it would be fine but as we wanted to spend more time at certain attractions it wasn't cost effective. We wish that we had used the Budapest Card or just a transport discount card as they run all day

So Boutique in Budapest

Excellent staff all deserve top marks; very near the river Danube within walking/tram distance of Gellert Spa and Deak Ferenc and all the major galleries, but yet tucked in a quiet side street. Nice Thai restaurant directly opposite too. Bed and bathroom all good. Internal noise could be a problem if you were unlucky with room neighbours and there was no room view, but it was not an issue during my hectic 3 night stay. Breakfast was decent continental style mainly - maybe some fried tomatoes or rashers to go with the scrambled eggs, or an option on soft boiled eggs? Thoroughly enjoyed Budapest this time. Thanks!
