A quiet locale sandwiched between Kowloon Park and Victoria Harbour

This gilded gift-box of a building occupies an enviable location on the bank of Victoria Harbour. Convenient to subway and ferries, the hotel still manages to be relatively quiet. Guests can easily stroll to Kowloon Park and nearby museums or Harbour City shopping mall. At the end of the day, enjoy a cocktail and harbor views on the Pierside bar patio.

Highlights
  • Harborfront location with spectacular views and alfresco dining
  • Direct access to China-Macau Ferry Terminal
  • Central, but quiet location in Tsim Sha Tsui
Rooms

Even premiere rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. The hotel's larger rooms and suites, some recently renovated, are blessed with views of the harbor, city and Kowloon Park. Both wired and wireless Internet access is available in all rooms, where decor ranges from simple to sumptuous. Guests in the tower wing may use the club lounge (fees apply), which includes complimentary buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails.

Features

With a location slightly removed from the busier sections of Tsim Sha Tsui, the Royal Pacific is relatively quiet. Standing between the harbor and Kowloon Park, the hotel's location translates to beautiful views on all sides. Have an alfresco aperitif at Pierside bar before a Malaysian and Singaporean dinner at Satay Inn, just two of the in-house restaurants. Venues for corporate and social events, a respectable fitness center and business center round out the facilities.

Good Location: Small Rooms

I enjoyed the location of the hotel as it was very easy to step down to the street and have access to multiple malls, coffee shops and a grocery store in the mall. Also had a nice sky bridge connection to the park. The staff were very friendly and we had a good experience. The main downside was the size of the hotel room. We stayed in a superior room and it was the smallest room I have stayed in in Hong Kong to date. From the foot of the bed I could touch the wall. There was also not adequate room for luggage. This made it feel like the room was even smaller with just enough room for a bed, a small desk and 2 suitcases on the floor. The bathroom was also unimpressive and was very damp and in need of updating.

Ok, but would chose another hotel

The rooms are rather small and the desk cramped. The biggest complaint is that the location requires a lot of walking to get to places of interest. Even the closest 7-11 is several blocks away, metro is even farther. Not an ideal location even though it appears centrally located in Kowloon. If you plan to be out at all beyond 10pm, you will have to walk quite a ways to get some food. Otherwise the hotel staff are friendly and the hotel is clean. Also experienced problems with the hotel wifi/internet. Too slow to conduct skype or VOIP calls. And FYI you won't be able to easily find free wifi in Hong Kong. This is a real detractor for the business traveller. Would recommend the Satay restaurant located next to the hotel.

Not for you, business traveler.

Let me begin by saying I have stayed at The Royal Pacific Towers and it was quite nice. Now then, staying at the Hotel side is a whole different animal. The rooms are small. Claustrophobia-inducing small. It's not so much the 22 sqm of space, it's the fact that the ceilings are mighty low. I stand at 6'-1" (1.85m) tall. I felt like a giant in that room; and not in that "Oh it's neat to be a tall guy in Asia" way either. The bathroom was absolutely awful as well. It had the acidic smell of fresh brewed vomit. A smell which didn't leave. The bed was stiff as a board, the linens were OLD and so was the pre-stone age era television. The check-in/out hours are slightly odd and you're out of luck if for any reason you can't do the express check out. You will spend the better part of a half hour waiting in line. The rest of the hotel was fine. Good places to eat, easy access to everything (though it's a bit of a hike to the MTR station) and a mall under the hotel. But if you plan on spending time in your room, stay away from this place at all costs.

Take the MTR to Mong Kok and check out the Ladie's Market. It's a great spot to pick up souvenirs and other trinkets.

Just right!

Great location for vacationing/shopping in HK: Room was on the small size, but I wasn't in HK to hide in my room; Bed was on the firm side and the fittings were not new, but everything was clean. Room had everything I needed and at a good price. On-site restaurants were great (and not expensive). "Splendid" tour office attached to hotel for day-trips (You HAVE to go to the Wed night Racing in Happy Valley). "Outlet" mall under hotel (with china/macau ferry terminal). Huge up-market mall next door (don't miss the the "ocean terminal" section). Drinks and Internet expensive - see my tips.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Free Internet at coffee shops in Outlet mall "under" hotel. 7-Eleven for drinks/snacks on lowest level - for 1/10 the price of the in-room mini-bar. Happy-Hour in hotel from 4-9pm when drinks are 40% off ($6US rather than $10!). 20% discount on the great-value buffet at the very popular Cafe-on-the-park when booked to the room. Great value Custom Tailor one-floor under reception (at the back) - tell'em Graham sent you :)
