I went during high season, and never having been to Hong Kong, I paid particular attention to location. It seemed a lot of places looked good but were rather inaccessible. Not so with the Charterhouse. It is in Causeway Bay, walking distance to
the Star Ferry to take you to Kowloon, the subway, the tram and the busses.
It is a nice enough hotel, mostly business travelers. My room was fine, the concierge was very helpful, and I was quite satisfied with the price vs quality.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
You can catch the A11 bus to the airport for HK$40 vs 140 taking the shuttle from the hotel. It lets you off about 3 blocks away-- a short distance if you're looking to save some money.
Never slept for any two-hour stretch. Highly allergic to tobacco smell and had requested room on non-smoking floor -- but none available. A blessing that I survived the stay. Room and corridor really stinked and couldn't breath. The room was small
like a pigeon coop with one single bed, it's like I was at a backpack hostel. The internet plug in was loose and I kept losing the connection. I would definitely never book into that Charter "Horror" House again.
