Run away from inner-city Hong Kong to the wilds of the New Territories

The Panda Hotel is a refuge from inner-city Hong Kong, in the wilds of the New Territories. In fact, for travelers who wish to see the pastoral side of the city, this is a prime base for hiking Tai Mo Shan or visiting the macaques at Kam Shan Country Park. When city life beckons, guests can hop the free shuttle to Tsim Sha Tsui or walk to a nearby MTR station to access the rest of Hong Kong. At the end of the day, the spacious hotel rooms allow guests to stretch out and relax. When all else has been exhausted, visit the large outdoor pool and patio.

Highlights
  • Large outdoor pool with spacious patio
  • Located in the New Territories, removed from inner-city Hong Kong
  • Very reasonable rates

Rooms
The Panda offers spacious, tidy accommodations with room to breathe. Renovated rooms are accented by brightly-colored modern chairs and striped carpeting. Standard amenities include TV with satellite and cable channels, hot water kettle, in-room safe and Wi-Fi access. The colorful suites are worth a look for travelers with children, particularly the pink, princess-themed suite or the panda-themed suite.
Features
In addition to a large pool with a spacious patio area, The Panda has a small fitness center with steam room and sauna. Leading into the executive lounge on the 30th floor, the small business center provides secretarial services and Internet access. Rude Inflexible Dishonest

Spouse stayed two night with child. When booked had choice of two rates, chose more expensive room. Second night they transferred us to a clearly inferior room due to noise in first room and suddenly all the room were the same (higher) price. Wonderful. Rooms could be cleaner, beds lumpy. At check out paid with credit charge had choice of HKD or USD. Spouse chose latter which included (in tiny letters) a disclosure that they were tacking on an additional 4.4% over the VISA exchange rate for the "service" of billing in USD. Our bank charges no fee. More Wonderful. If you go there caveat emptor and count your fingers after they shake your hand..... Absolutely the worst lodging experience we have ever had in Hong Kong.

Good Value and Excellent location

I stayed at this hotel for 15 nights with my mom (a senior) & a young child. They both can't walk that much. This hotel is a little far from the city center. But The first reason I picked this hotel was the location surroundings and free shuttle bus services to Tsim Sha Tsui & Mongkok. Every hour pickup & return 20 min bus rides. Very Convenient. If you miss the last shuttle bus returning to hotel, you just need to take MTR subway also very easy. One train ride from TST straight directly to closest MTR subway stop (Tai Wo Hau) to the hotel. Walking would take about 5 minutes from MTR to hotel, but if you're too tired or carrying too many shopping bags, just take a taxi costs $20 back to the hotel (very cheap). In fact, we never walked from/to MTR to hotel, only took the taxis, very convenient & cheap. This hotel is surrounded with everything, you named it, they're all there (shoppings, bank, grocery stores, restaurants, parks etc). First 3 levels of the hotel is the Japanese Aeon Department store and a shopping mall. Right outside of hotel at different corners: there are Seven-Eleven, Macdonalds, HK styled restaurants, Parka grocery store,Pharmacies, banks. Just amazing!!! If you don't feel like going to the city, just hanging out at the hotel or around the area is still sufficient. Panda Hotel is a little out-of-date, but it's still very comfortable and Services are still fully provided. Lobby is beautiful decorated with pandas. Lots of staff hanging around the lobby for assistance. For Non-smoking Rooms, make sure you specifically ask for it. Inside the elevator, only 2 floors(12 and 13) are specifically indicated on the button as non-smokings. The room was a good size for 3 of us and able to fit 3 big luggages. This hotel rooms are definitely bigger than the one in the city where I previously had compared to before booking. The bed was very comfortable. My mom didn't have problem sleeping at all when normally she has a bad sleep patterns. The couch can turned into an extra bed. The bathroom is huge & can fit 3 of us at the same time. We loved the shower with strong pressure. But the toilet needed extra strength to push the flushes. It was very strange for this hotel not providing a clock in all rooms. We had to buy a clock for this room for our long stay in this hotel. Staff were great. Very helpful and very efficent when we called down to Reception to ask for extra utilities. Even when we asked to change a burned light bulb, a staff came instantly for our request. My HK relatives and friends came to visit us at the hotel and they were very surprised to see the good size of the room and bathroom and the convenient and comfort of this hotel. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel. I'll certainly return to this hotel for my next visit.

My Favorite Hotel In HongKong

Remember ,Hong Kong Hotels price is the most expensive in the world. If you stay in the same class hotel in the central area, you need to pay double of the Panda Hotel price, may be more. Location : walking to Mass Trasit Railway (15 minutes). By Taxi (US$ 3.00) to MTR. It take about an hour,no matter where you go in HongKong. I strongly recommend this hotel for the tight budget travelers. And I will come back again.(Chak ,Seattle).

Hongkong Hotel

This hotel is clean, great location with a lot of local shopping shops, close to HongKong airport and subway station. 21st floors is smoking room floor, we were in 22nd floor, a non-smoking floor, but we still can smell it. I reported to the manager and hope they can manager it. We will come back to this hotel

Very Good Hotel, But..

Well this Hotel was a very good experience. Of course as an american I found the same problem many of us had with the hard mattress, but that's to be expected in Hong Kong. The MTR station is close by, But I found the trip into the city was further than I anticipated. Housekeeping was excellent, but there was a lot of mildew between the cracks of the bathroom tiles. The rooms have the usual amenities. There is a fair amount of stores and resturants in the small shopping mall there. One common problem with this hotel as with other hotels was the prices for laundry service. I was forced to find a nearby local cleaner because the hotel charged very high amounts for laundry.
