Best hotel in HK

A coworker actually recommended this hotel because of the rooftop pool. This hotel is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. A few great perks: 1. Handy Smart phone provided by hotel for the duration of your stay that allows you unlimited international and local calls and internet access 2. TV in the bathtub ;) 3. Amazing view of Hong Kong island from the gym 4. Rooftop pool My only compliant would be the taxi service. I had to travel to the other side daily for work and cabs do not want to take the tunnel because of peak time traffic.

Great Vacation in HK

Overall, I had a fine experience staying at Hotel ICON in Tsim Sha Tsui. The staff was beyond reproach, extremely helpful and courteous. The thrice-hourly hotel shuttle was a quick way to get a lift to the TST MTR station, although it stops running at 10pm, which means you'll have to walk back at night or grab a taxi. As far as the hotel restaurants are concerned, I can only speak to the Western breakfast options, which were perfectly fine, although obscenely expensive. The free in-room minibar is stocked with two beers, two colas and two diet colas, as well as juice boxes and candies, and the room is stocked each day with four 12oz bottled waters each day, which is great, as you'll be buying a ton of bottled water as it is. The room comes with an ironing board and iron, a safe, a hair dryer, robes and slippers. One annoying oversight is that there are no clocks in the room, save for the tiny one on the telephone's user interface. The 3G smart phone that comes with the room is a life saver, as you can take it out on the town with you and you get what I believe are unlimited calls and data. It's worth it for the online map functions alone, but it also has social media apps and all of the basic phone utilities, plus a suite of visitor-targeted apps that can guide you to places to eat and shop, things to see and more. The one major drawback I found with the room was the luxury rain shower, which would be great except for the fact that the shower floor is completely smooth and slippery, which makes for a stressful time. There is a separate bath in the room, so that mitigates it somewhat, but personally I'd have preferred a basic, no-frills shower with a textured floor. This hotel is also affiliated with the nearby polytechnic college and serves as a training ground for hotelier students, which is pretty cool. Overall, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from staying at Hotel ICON. It's much more reasonably priced than some other high end hotels in the area but, that being said, it's still a bit pricey and there may be comparable experiences at other hotels for much less.

Good modern design hotel, but I was expecting better

I stayed at the ICON for 5nights in Jan 2015, it was a decent hotel - but not sure how it is rated as high as no:4 out of 690 hotels in Hong Kong. I would rate it maximum : 3.5 out of 5. Room - good size, I felt the bathroom was a little too big which made the room feel smaller then it actually was. Lack of natural light, the room felt a bit gloomy. Location - ok location, walking distance to everywhere around TST. But probably better to stay closer to Avenue of the Stars, around the Sheraton/Peninsula for better views of Hong Kong Island. Lobby/entrance - modern design style looking hotel but not a luxurious feel, like with the Sheraton or Intercontinental. Breakfast - recommended, very good. Extras - they provided a smart phone, with free international calls - this was excellent. Pool/Gym - nice roof top pool with Gym. But in Jan HK was a little cool to be hanging out by the pool. Service - no issues, what I was really happy about it was they allowed me to check-in early around 6am. I was getting a similar rate at the Peninsula, but chose the ICON for its uniqueness, larger rooms, and roof top pool. I'd probably go for the Intercontinental, Peninsula, Sheraton next time. I would only stay at the ICON again if there was a really good promotion going, otherwise I'm sure there are better hotels at this price range.

Perfect for our trip

The Hotel ICON was perfect for our stay in Hong Kong. The service was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable and the location was great. It is not a bargain hotel, but price compared to other hotels of equal quality is very good.

Incredible Hotel

This is a training hotel for the local Hospitality college students. It's INCREDIBLE. You definitely want to stay here. Location is good. Shuttle helps get you to/from train station. Give you a cell phone to use for data/maps/tethered hot spot/local calls. Views of HK harbor from higher floors are beautiful.

The Icon is modern without being up itself. The room was quiet and comfortable and very well equipped, but the staff were first class. I cannot praise highly enough all the staff from the doorman when we arrived to the final checkout. They were superb.
