8 Days of Splendor

From "Red Carpet" treatment upon check-in to doorman service upon leaving, this is the place to stay with only a few very minor issues. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the hotel has an attached 2-story shopping mall with a 7-11, a Chinese food food court and a covered walkway to the Hong Hom train station. Although my room was smallish it was well-appointed and spotless. Free bottled water is put in the rooms daily. The maids are not accustomed to obeying the "do not disturb" if displayed. On several occasions they entered my room while I was in it. If denied entry, they leave a written reminder under the door. The AC worked perfectly and was a welcomed relief to the oppressive outdoor humidity. Although way overpriced, the breakfast buffet was incredible! Their outdoor pool is second to none and is very, very well maintained & supervised. This hotel is very large and has rooms of many different sizes and levels of oppulence. Money exchange is available at the front desk albeit with a substantial rate penalty and their business center offers internet for a very high rate ($45 HKD for 15 minutes). Their free shuttle runs from/to the hotel every 15 minutes or so to/from the Middle Road shopping district (a big money saver & hassle-free). I went on two guided tours arranged by the hotel and they both went perfectly! While there are hotels closer to the harbor, I doubt they are any nicer or friendlier! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great location

Very good location, especially if you are travelling to Mainland China, as the train station is just crossed the road from the hotel. Nice room, good service. Got upgraded too!

Needed a place to crash

My suite was nice, the bathroom was "white marble" and the shower was nice. I had a mini kitchen that had a basket of complimentary fruit(Tasted Delicious) This hotel is right next to the Hung Hom train station so it was super convenient. Saturday morning saw 2 weddings happening which was fun to watch while i waited 30minutes in line to check-out

Good sightseeing base

Really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is well-situated and the mall between it and the station has a supermarket, nice coffee shop etc. Rooms are compact, but very well-presented. Two gripes - no free wifi even in the lobby (charge is 130 HK dollars for 24 hours, which feels ridiculous when it is free elsewhere (I used the coffee shop in the mall). Also the queue to check out was far too long - a warning in the room to expect this at peak times would have helped stress levels, as many people are trying to get to flights, meetings etc.

Well-located hotel at the right price!

I stayed in a Harbour View Twin Room. The room was comfortable and spotless. The harbour view is partial as there are buildings to the left and right of the hotel on the waterfront, but at night the view was still stunning. The hotel is well located, a 5 minute walk from Hung Hom MTR station, with an International supermarket, coffee shops and dining options in the centre next door, plus a Maccas in the MTR station for those who like the same taste worldwide :) The staff were always friendly, efficient and helpful. In other reviews, I read complaints about the high price of Wi-Fi in the hotel. It is currently HK$130 (US$16) for 24 hours. At the moment you can buy a PCCW sim that lasts 8 days and has 5GB data for HK$95 with some calls included. The other major hotels around here with views of the harbour were twice the price, so I would definitely recommend you stay here!

Entertainment tip: Not Applicable

Be aware that all the major attractions (the Peak, Lantau island cable car, Disneyland etc.) all have huge lines. Factor in about an hour each way for lines and you'll be on the right track. Also, you can book ahead online with lots of these attractions and line up for less time!

Hong Kong Trip

This is a very nice and very busy hotel, in a good location. It has both a good shuttle service to Nathan Road for shopping and a shuttle service to the train station for return to the airport. Both are free regular. The only negative point is no free Wifi, it is free in the attached shopping mall I would also suggest booking with bed and breakfast, as I found breakfast to be expensive. I would use this hotel again.

Good convenient location.

Most of the facilities were as expected but I was a bit agrieved at the cost of internet access which they wanted 130HKD for 24 hours that's a months cost of normal broadband. This is a major set back seeing they are suppose to be a modern hotel... it would be a good hotel if you don't want internet access while you are on hols but if you do then this hotel is not good value for money.

Mixed experience

The hotel itself is really very nice, absolutely 4-star. Two experience did mar the stay, however. First, while the price was honored, there was unrelenting pressure to upgrade to a "premium" package. Best I can tell, it might be of interest to a business person meeting clients or customers, but was of little value (particularly at a spectacular surcharge of $60USD per might)...but the manager's otherwise flawless English failed at the word, "No." Really, it was beyond reason. Second, I'm used to a surcharge for internet access...however the charge here for internet access was a whopping $20USD per night. OK, a third experience that wasn't great. While many hotels have gone to some form of relatively painless checkout, here was the old-fashioned "stand in line for half-an-hour" scenario. Want to avoid that? Buy the above-mentioned premium package, and there is no waiting. Again, the hotel was splendid...it was certain policies and practices that really marred the experience.
