A smart, inviting and unpretentiously hip spot on the Golden Mile

As the name implies, this hotel on the Golden Mile is smart, polished and a fantastic deal. The mood at Eaton is fun, yet professional and the design sophisticated and stylish. Balancing amenities for work and play, the function rooms provide many options for business meetings while a lovely rooftop pool and bar help guests unwind. Everything is capably run by attentive, smiling staff.

Highlights
  • Inviting, heated rooftop pool served by a poolside bar
  • Fun and sophisticated contemporary Asian décor
  • Unexpected treats such as Wii Fit at the fitness center and free tai chi classes
Rooms

Standard room amenities include iPod dock, broadband Internet access, flat-screen TV and classic cherry furniture. Ceiling moldings, dark wood and sliding window-shade panels create a polished look. Distinctive details include the rounded wall of windows in city club rooms, and high-tech work spaces in BizSuites. Various bathrooms are outfitted with rain shower heads, others with bathtubs.

Features

If it were not for the wonderfully attentive staff, the hotel's good looks would lose a bit of sheen. Luckily, the guest experience is as attractive as the stylish décor. A newly renovated lobby and garden area welcomes guests. Visit the inviting rooftop pool for a drink at the poolside bar or head to an adjacent 24-hour fitness center featuring state-of-the-art equipment, free weights and Wii Fit. Seven restaurants and bars in the hotel include a relaxed outdoor patio bar, a Japanese izakaya (pub-style restaurant) and Yat Tung Heen, serving dim sum and other Cantonese delights. Several function rooms provide elegant backdrops for business meetings or social events run by professional event management staff. The executive club lounge is spacious with plenty of cozy seating, an extensive library and all-day snacks and drinks.

world's worst designed room

if you end up in one of their older, non-renovated rooms, good luck. the sink is about 1 x 1.5" and there are 2 faucets with 2 extra long handles (6" each) that block the already tiny sink. genius.... the shower area is not blocked off from the toilet or sink, so after a shower, you get nice wet floors. no sandals were provided so imagine going to the bathroom at night and getting your feet wet, and then walking to the bed area, which is carpeted. pretty gross. there's nowhere to place items in the shower area check-in was also a hassle. told there was no room at 1pm and to try again from 2 to 3. came in at 2:15, literally watched front desk person type frantically for 10-15min only be told there was no room and to try again at 3. seriously, did it need that long?

Great for solo and families

This is my third stay in as many years. Book early for the best price. The staff is mostly bilingual and very helpful. The hotel is next to the Temple St night market and not far from the Ladies Market. The Jordon metro station is just a short walk. From there you can pretty much go anywhere in Hong Kong. I suggest buying an Octopus Card. It's easy and convenient to use. The only down side is I get placed on the 8th or 9th floor overlooking Nathen St. I would like a different view and maybe higher up next time.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Temple Street Market. Bargain, bargain bargain. Start at half of what the vendor asks. Smile and be willing to buy but make at least three offers and be a serious buyer. Be polite. Don't raise your voice.

Clean hotel in a good area

Overall I liked the hotel a lot. All the staff members were nice and the cleaning lady was always coming in everyday to make sure we have everything. Only complaint I have is that the bed springs were poking my back a little. The beds were a little worn. But overall it was good!

Postage stamp

Calling this hotel a 4 Star is a joke. The room is postage stamp size, the basin is in the room because there is no bath per se, only a closet sized WC and a closet sized shower. The only advantage for this place is the low price, but you get what you pay for. The Concierge could not speak enough English to tell the taxi drivers where we wanted to go. Give this place a miss

Great Long-Stay Experience!

Location is great, especially for using the metro stations. Easy walks to Jade Market and Temple Market. We frequented the hotel restaurants, bar, and pool, all of which were excellent. The hotel staff is very helpful and courteous. The bar and restaurants were understaffed, but the quality of staff exceeded this downfall.
