Location and value all in one package

My wife and I got married in Hong Kong and needed a place to stay for our first night as a couple. This boutique came to our attention because of its low-price ($129) and location. We needed to get to the US Embassy the next morning so we were looking for a place on the HK Island. This location is located between the MTR stations of Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. Close to convenience stores and restaurants with easy access. Our double-bed room was upgrade to a deluxe suite upon our late arrival after 12am. Hotel staff was polite and the check in process on the 3rd floor was smooth (probably due to the late check-in). We got the 28th (top) floor room with a wonderful view of the city above most buildings. Happy Valley race course was right around the corner. The room was equipped with a nice 50-inch Sony LCD TV, also with 5 Sony speakers around it. The room offers an in-room 1-serving-sized Nespresso coffee maker with 3 capsules, a cordless phone, tea bags, water kettle and other usual stuff. The bathroom was nice with everything you need to get comfy. Plenty of towels and a very nice rain-style shower-head. The room also came with a in-room safe, hair-dryer, slippers. We asked for a check out extension the next morning but we couldn't due to their full schedule. But we did get to the embassy on time and was able to come back to sleep for a couple of hours before handing back the room key :) This is one of the best hotel experience I ever had, not to mention this is a special night to remember - the first night after my wedding.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

A short walk will lead you to Causeway Bay, one of the busiest spots in Hong Kong and lots of night life around that area.

Butterfly on Morrison

This was a very good value for the price. It was a clean efficient hotel, contemporary decor. They offer free WiFi and Internet in the reception area. The staff we had were always helpful and friendly, ready to assist. Pretty easy access to the MTR. Causeway Bay stop, Times Square exit A. When you alight above ground turn left. The end of the block should be Canal and Russell. Cross Canal which is a divided street (one side is eastbound, one westbound). Once you cross the street turn left and go about a block and turn right. This right should cut across through to Morrison Hill Road. Turn left and the hotel is about half a block up.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

At the Times Square exit underground there are a number of great affordable restaurants. If you go upstairs to City Super there is a food court and a gourmet supermarket.

Good Value Hotel

First off, the place is a little hard to find. It's very close to the Cathay Pacific Hotel, though, so if you can get there, it's only a stone's throw away. Staff was very friendly, courteous, and responsive. Room was a bit on the small side, but everything was new, and the important things (the comfortable bed and the hitch-free shower) were as they should be. Probably not the best bet for family vacations, though. After my last hotel experience in HK, the complimentary internet access was the kicker. There were some shortcomings--such as the lack of in-hotel amenities, the distance to an MTR station, and the somewhat uncomfortable desk chair--but nothing that stuck in my craw, if you will. Add it all up, it's not the biggest, best, or most luxurious hotel you're going to stay in. but for a lone traveler looking for a functional room at a good price, it was everything I could ask. Good for one or two travelers looking for a great deal in a good location and uninterested in all the bells and whistles.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There's a great complex with a Starbuck's, Burger King, Tony Roma's, and The Spaghetti Factory a short distance away.
