Less than I expected
The room I stayed in was very small. It had no TV and we had to pay extra for wifi. The mattress was super hard and I could not get comfortable sleeping on it. During our stay, we had a little bit of an insect problem in our bathroom, which was fixed after we complained. The best part of this place is it's location (only about a minute walk to west bay beach) and the staff who were super nice.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
It's best to go to West End to eat. There are a lot more options and the prices are a little more comfortable. It's only a short water taxi ride away (about 5 min) and they charge $3 pp for the ride. If you were to walk down the beach to West End, it would take about 45 min.

Excellent Location
The hotel has a great location, the staff is really nice, the rooms are clean. The only bad's comment I have is about the bed and pillows, the bed is not confortable and you can not sleep well. If the hotel changed the mattresses of their beds, this would be the perfect place to stay.

Beautiful
Very close for the sea and to West Bay and West End. You can snorkel, go by walking to the restaurants and by car in a day you can visit all the island.

Will not return to hotel.
bedsheets has blood stain (mosquitoes? ), not changed daily. Also found bugs in bedsheets. Cleaner bed & sheets would have made a diff w/ my stay at Las Rocas.

Good location, old and tacky
The hotel is old and not well maintained. For example, the towels are in rags and not always available, since they seem to be in short supply. The bathroom was more or less functional. Only hotel where you can't drink from the tap and you have to pay for the first bottle of water, in my experience. Food was adequate but is mostly not exciting in the whole area. The hotel is located a short walk from the best snorkeling area, which is very good. We did not use the Dive Shop. The ownership is apparently Italian, as is much of the clientele. We survived the stay and did not get sick. The personnel were fairly helpful.

El Gordo
Quiet but in the middle of everything.
Las Rochas is in a great location at the end of West Bay beach and only a 40 minute walk to West End village/beach. It is small and rustic, only 15+ rooms, but is good "bang for the buck". They have a nice little dive center but the dive equipment definitely needs some maintenance. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

Focussing on Diving
Las Rocas was a charming spot, DIVING WAS WONDERFUL! The group was small and the dive staff gave us wonderful individual attention. Guests who are not completely focussed on diving might find it a bit limited, especially off-season. Dinner was not available as the restaurant closed at 5. Not a problem unless it was raining. Walking several minutes both ways in the pouring rain to get dinner was less than appealing. Was glad I had remembered to bring a flashlight. Also, Las Rocas managed to forget to meet me at the airport, despite confirmation of flight info. [...]

Bite at the Beach was a nice restaurant owned by Ex-pat Americans immediately adjacent to Las Rocas. It was closed Sunday and Monday, but I was glad to go there most of the rest of my stay.

You might want to bring your own snorkel gear. They have it but I thought it was uncomfortable to use.
