Looks Good but Bad Service
The Hotel have good location,the room looks clean and neat in general nice presentation but the tv not have good reception that's mean too many channels doesn't works properly and front desk people are rude because they denied parking for visitor and shuttle to airport and don't provide the right information.

For the traveler with high standards
My boyfriend and I are by nature kind of on the picky side so we were delighted to find a clean, well appointed room waiting for us. The carpets were clean. The room came with all kind of miscellaneous freebies which my boyfriend really liked. It's also close to quite a few restaurants. The airport was so close that we could literally see it from our balcony. The stores inside the hotel are overpriced so make sure not to forget basic things. What would cost you $3-$4 in the states could cost you $7 over there.

Good hotel. Very comfortable.
I was on business and having the additional charge for Internet use was incovenient. However, charges were accurate (for what I actually used). They are very secure -guards everywhere (no visible guns, thank goodness). Bring your swimming suite -great pool and sauna.

NYC Biz Traveler
Great location, hard bed, avg gym.
Travelled there for business and the experience was solid. High speed Internet available. Solid restaurants, including Strikers, a sports bar. Great customer service, able to conduct foreign exchange transactions 24/7 at competitive rates. Very safe. Guards demand identity of all visitors after midnight. Great location near Zona Viva. One downer for me, the fitness center, equipment needs major upgrade (both fitness center, the large one and the smaller one). Also the beds are too hard and pillows are below average.

Just Right
People were very nice and very helpful. If You don't know the area don't rent a car. I'm from the states and the driving is crazy Plenty of cabs, ask for price before going There is no cab meters.

Antigua fan
Barcelo a quality hotel
Staff is very friendly and helpful, the hotel is very clean, and the breakfast was awesome. The only weakness, from our perspective, was the bed which was extremely firm. We upgraded to an executive level room that included many niceties, but the bed was only slightly softer. The hotel is located in a decent area where we felt safe. After five weeks in antigua, we returned to Guatemala City but opted for the Crown Plaza. Now that was great. We got all the benies required an upgrade at Barcelo. If we return, we'll opt for the Crown Plaza.

Perfect
Great Hotel. Everybody is so generous and kind. I have stayed here 4 times already. The breakfast is great, the pool is nice. The rooms are spectacular with a great view of the volcanoes. They offer trips to all kinds of places. Security is also all over which is wondeful. I will always stay at the Barcelo when I travel to Guatemala. Make sure to book the hotel early to get a great price
