Book into the Holiday Inn Thessaloniki hotel for its central location, close to the commercial and cultural districts of Greece's second city. Holiday Inn Thessaloniki is 16km from Makedonia International Airport , and is well-placed in the centre of Thessaloniki. Local businesses and attractions in this thriving Byzantine port are within 2km of us, so you can leave your car at the hotel. Connect to wireless Internet throughout the hotel. The I.Vellidis Congress Centre is 2km from Holiday Inn Thessaloniki and local buses run from outside so you can be there in 10 minutes. Visit the city's offices and businesses with ease , or invite associates to one of the 5 fully-equipped meeting rooms at the hotel. Step outside and into the heart of Thessaloniki, its bustling streets lined with shops and restaurants. The winding lanes of the Byzantine Old Town are 2km away, and the waterside cafes of Thessaloniki port are within walking distance. Presiding over the port is the city's famous White Tower , a centuries-old symbol of Thessaloniki. The hot breakfast buffet is a welcome start to your day in our Aristotelis Restaurant. You can plan sightseeing over coffee and energise with a workout in the air-conditioned MiniGym. Savour fresh Mediterranean cuisine for dinner back in the restaurant, and cool drinks and cocktails in our laidback Capitol Bar . GNTO Reg Nr 0933K015A0161500

Pretty darn good

Everything was perfect, except the availability of wireless internet in the rooms. They have cords, but it is somewhat pricey. There's a well-known Seattle-based coffee shop (you can guess which) with free internet a few blocks away towards the east (away from the train station). The area is pretty dead, but if you walk towards the white tower, you'll find more life and places to eat.

Satisfactory but with handicaps

City and peope are good, Its worth being there. The huge construction (underground station) in front of the hotel is still continuing and no one knows when it may be completed. Although the facilities barely matches 5 star rating, the location is somewhat outside of the City's better looked after center. It is dusty and noisy outside. It had been reported that most of the hotel was renovated but that was 7 years ago and for a 5 star, it is needed again. The staff is friendly and helpful, given the conditions, offering their best.

Short stay

The hotel is not situated in the garden spot of the city but is a short walk from the port and seafront and from nicer shopping and dining areas further to the south and east. The hotel is clean and the staff are courteous. Optional breakfasts and internet connections are expensive relative to the price of the hotel, and can easily ruin an otherwise good bargain. The room and bathroom were modern and adequate. There are not many TV channels, but who comes to Greece to watch TV?

Walk down to the seafront and stroll along it and the streets a couple of blocks back from it. You will find many nice foreign restaurants and classical Greek Tavernas.

A fine choice . . . in a fabulous city!

Everything was excellent. Pianists were excellent and added a lot to the ambiance in the lobby. Would have appreciated the inclusion of a simple continental breakfast and free local calls.

Enjoy the Agora! Be sure to get closer to the water to the superior shopping areas. And, do not miss visiting the ancient Orthodox Churches and St. Paul's sites from where he preached to the Thessalonians. Stop and wander along the areas where the subway is being built to see the ruins and artifacts being uncovered.

very nice hotel

The nicest, most comfortable hotel we have stayed in in Greece. The staff answered our many questions and helped us solve some travel problems. They spoke fluent English. Lobby, elevators and rooms were modern and everything functioned well.

A nice stay, BUT!!!

My only real problem with this hotel is that there was/is major construction going on right in front of the hotel. When arriving or leaving the hotel, you have to go through the basement, up the ramp, and out the back door. The entire street is torn out in front of the hotel, its an ugly sight. Also, there's a lot of street noise because of the traffic congestion. The hotel is clean, nice, and staff was friendly.
