Great location for Acropolis & Plaka!
I have lived in Greece and know Athens pretty well - this is a great hotel if you plan to see the Acropolis and surrounding area. Very walkable - and this was a plus since, of course, there was a taxi strike during our stay. The front desk was a bit short-handed but very competent. Manny the bell captain was great and set up our airport transfer which was not an easy task during the strike. Don't miss the rooftop restaurant/bar - amazing view of the Parthenon! We stayed here on both ends of our trip to the Greek islands, one night each time. 2nd stay we had a much larger (newer) room and were given complimentary wine and fruit. Definitely request one of the larger rooms that look out onto the courtyard. Some of the rooms are very small! Overall - I would stay here again.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Daphne's restaurant a few blocks from the hotel on the edge of the Plaza - AMAZING traditional Greek food and special atmosphere. The hotel front desk clerk recommended we go there and we would definitely go back. Not a tourist spot - this is the real thing for high end Greek food. The restaurant was reviewed with high ratings in the NY Times - apparently the only Athens restaurant mentioned.

fabulous stay
First three nights of our honeymoon in Greece were spent here in Athens. The pool area and service was awesome, the concierge all spoke perfect English and had great recommendations and made all arrangements for us. The breakfast was unspeakably plentiful and delicious. The rooftop restaurant would be better for drinks than dinner, and if you are eating make a reservation early because even if you get a seat they treat you a little snobbishly.

NOT what you see in pictures
the photos they post online of the lobby, library , the hotel is what you see when you arrive... however the rooms are nothing like what you see in the photos. the room is torn down and old . small and dirty. there is no one bed like queen size bed for a couple. it is TWO SINGLE BEDS put together as ONE "full size" bed. ridiculous. also this hotel is near the ghetto part of athens ... i dont suggest you to stay here

very good overall
I had a business trip but had the weekend free so I wanted to see a bit of Athens sites as well. The hotel worked well for that as it is in a good location near the best areas in Athens to sightsee. Didn't need taxis at all to walk to Plaka area, the Acropolis and museums. The hotel has a very nice lobby with Marble and fixtures of a 4-5 star hotel and theer are sme nice sitting areas including a big quiet library off the lobby that is quiet and had the best wifi reception. The room was also nice with a view of the courtyard with pool but they are a bit small and my large bed was two twins together so had to avoid sleeping in the middle but that is the convenient way for the hotel to have single or double bed option. The price was right at about $125 and internet is included. I did not use the hotel restaurants as the breakfast was expensive at $25 but possible worth it if you like a big breakfast I found pleanty of spots to eat right near by which was more what I was looking for. The roof top bar and restaurant was nice as I just ducked in there for a dring and view the incredible site of the Acropolis at night.

Great hotel, great location
January 2010. - The location was fantastic! Walking distance to most of the sites and right next to Metro stop. - The rooftop restaurant was great. The food was good. The view was amazing (overlooking the Temple of Zeus and with views of the Acropolis)! Pricey but worth going at least once. - The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. - The rooms were well appointed. - One drawback, which is why I gave it the 4 instead of 5 stars, the bed. Not bad, but suboptimal, and I am a huge fan of a comfortable bed.
