Solo Trip

I came to Athens in late March for an academic conference and stayed at Philippos for five nights. You could not ask for a better hotel in terms of location (just a five-minute walk to the New Acropolis Museum), cleanliness, and kindness of the staff. My room was somewhat small, but it had all that one would need the full-size bed was comfortable and the small bathroom was modern and clean. Philippos has a friendly and relaxed, but respectful, environment that is good for solo travelers like myself or families, of which I saw many staying at the hotel. Overall, this is a great hotel and I do not hesitate to recommend it to any and all.

Great Location

If you are looking for a hotel that is near the Acropolis and the new museum, then this is the place for you. You are literally two blocks from everything. It's great for a night stroll to see the Acropolis or to spend some time strolling through the Plaka. If you are looking for a relaxing hotel with great rooms, then this is not the place for you. The rooms are very small. It was difficult for two of us to even move around in the room. It was also very hard to keep the room cool. We had to open windows to sleep because it was so warm. The continental breakfast is good, but not extensive. Our overall experience was good, but would have been better to have a bit larger room.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

If you are looking for a hotel in the heart of the Acropolis and the Plaka, then this would be a nice one if you aren't planning to spend much time in the room.

Good Location but that's all

The location was perfect - Right next to the Acropolis. However, the room was way too cramped and the AC did not work. However, the triple room had an amazing AC unit so if you want to stay at this hotel, request the triple single. You'll get more space in your room and an AC unit that is way bigger.

Close to Acropolis, helpful staff

Very close to Acropolis, very friendly and helpful staff. My room was small, but had a nice terrace. Complimentary breakfast was ok. I wish they'd had real orange juice and not the acidic concentrate ubiquitous in many hotels. Very good value overall. Near metro station (Acropolis).
