FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!

OMG....don't even bother searching for another hotel....you will not find a better one!! We arrived in Athens after spending ... a week on a sail boat with 3 other couples. They had all spent some time prior to the sail in Athens at various hotels. I truly feel that we had the best ever experience. They all stayed in 4-5 star hotels and did not have the same service that we did at Philippos. The front desk staff was very patient with all of our questions and treated everyone in the same caring manner. We had an absolutely gorgeous view of the Parthenon from our balcony. The hotel is within walking distance of all the major historical sites. We even caught the tram 2 blocks from the hotel and spent the day at the beach. Our room was very quiet even being next to the elevator. The breakfast every morning was just enough to get your motor started for site seeing. If I have the chance to visit Athens again, I wouldn't think of looking for a different hotel....this is the ONE!!

There was a small restaurant in the Plaka District that served the BEST gyros!! If you are walking in the Plaka and find a corner restaurant with wood slat chairs....the gyros place is just a few more steps on the left with a walk up window....the price for a gyros was Euro 1.90

Great family-run hotel
Kim Jul 15, 2009
Great location near the Acropolis, the Plaka shopping and dining district and Metro. Rooms were small, but comfortable. ... Bathrooms were clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and very satisfying.
Traveler type: Couples
Walk a block to the Museum of the Acropolis, 2 blocks up the hill to the promenade around the Acropolis and another block to the Plaka. Everything you need at your fingertips.

Great little hotel
Kim Jun 15, 2009
Friendly service; they let us check in early and were very helpful throughout our stay. We stayed one night, then two nights ... a week later. The location is great for all the central attractions and will be even better with the opening (mid-June '09) of the new Acropolis Museum a short block away. Crisp, white linens each day. Well-stocked breakfast buffet (and they let people come early if they had an early departure time). Comfortable lobby with newspapers and inexpensive internet access. Money exchange at the desk. A few steps away is their sister hotel which appeared to be a little more up-scale, but we were quite satisfied with the Philippos.
Traveler type: Couples
1 1/2 to 2 blocks away, in the direction of the Metro station, there is a small, "hole-in-the-wall" cafe which the locals obviously frequent, with excellent traditional Greek menu and cold beer at great prices! A large Gyro for only 1.7 Euro, 500ml Mythos beer for only 2.5 Euro. Inside tables and a few small tables on the sidewalk. (Can't remember the name, but the facade above the entry was red.) Good, honest people.

Review of Herodin Hotel
Marilyn Jun 2, 2009
The Philippos actually upgraded us to their 4 star sister hotel, The Herodin. The staff at the Herodin were very friendly ... and helpful. The lobby and the roof top garden were fantastic, but the rooms were really small. Other than the size of the rooms and their decor, the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. The restaurant in the lobby also has really good food at good prices.

This hotel is right in ancient Athens, so we were in walking distance to everything. The metro is 4 blocks away.
