The REAL review of Palmyra

On my first trip to Greece I selected this hotel for my boyfriend and myself. I'm a seasoned traveller but this was his first trip to Europe. First of all- if you're coming a long way- especially from the states as we did, seriously consider if you'd rather do a historical trip it one that is more about leisure and beaches. We tried to do both. That was mistake one. We wanted to be near athens to see the historical sites but chose to stay in Glyfada because it is near the beach- best if both worlds, right? Wrong. First of all- take the 96 bus from the hotel and let them drop you at the nearest bus stop. It's only 5 euro a person instead of 55 euro for a taxi. Secondly- as you drive from the hotel- you'll notice a ton of graffiti and dirty roads, boarded up buildings and poverty. Athens isn't all it's cracked up to be. Once at the final bus stop- it was near impossible to fine the hotel itself- hidden behind overgrown trees. There are NO street signs to even reference so it took us an hour to find. The streets and surrounding area are filthy. No care is taken. The beach view is beautiful but overrun. Good luck finding an English speaking staff member. Once inside the lobby- there is hope. The lobby itself is clean and upkept. However- you realize that it's all show for when you enter your room. Tiny, dirty, hot, old rooms. There is no safe for your things. The TV is circa 1990 and 12 inches. The beds are uncomfortable and small. The window coverings are tattered and the bathroom was almost unusable. Mold, rust , you name it. Hotel is absolutely horrid. The only reason it gets one star is for location near many restaurants that have tons if food at low prices. Nothing else impresses. Honestly- take your money and go to Santorini for a week. Just relax on clean beaches. Or better yet- go to Italy instead.

Good, clean hotel in Glyfada

Convenient to airport bus which costs only 3.2 euro each way.Did not use their shuttle which is only from Mon to Fri and every 2 hrs. Surroundings are clean though we could not find the hotel entrance at first due to a sign that pointed to the left when it was to the right. Food was delicious. Breakfast buffet (included) was plentiful and American standard. The public beach is about a block away.Use of Emmantina Hotel ( their bigger sister hotel on the beach) facilities is free. Pool is good sized for guests. Nice breezy bar area under the trees. Staff was very helpful if asked any question.

Good location

Front desk was well prepared with our reservation and was expecting us, very friendly. Room ready, nice size, nice pool, very clean, and walking distance to beach/shopping/public transportation/restaurants. Would stay here again. Better than a few others on same street.

A few blocks from Starbucks, Hontos Shopping Center, Metaxa street (famous street with all the boutiques, Hagan Daaz, Dunkin Donuts, Zara, McDonalds, Shish Kabobs, Cafes). A block from large grocery store. Buses stop in front. Kiddie corner for large Greek Bouzoukia (live singers).
