The Cecil Hotel occupies a beautifully renovated neo-classical building in the heart of old Athens, close to the Ancient Market and the New City Market, elegance and traditional style. The peaceful picturesque neighborhoods of Plaka and Psiri are only a short walk. Next to the metro station of Monastiraki only 45 minutes from the airport (blue metro line), and 20 minutes from the Piraeus port (green line). Cecil Hotel offers easy walking access to numerous tavernas, restaurants and many places like cafes, nightclubs and cinemas, offering all forms of daytime and evening entertainment for which Athens is famous. Services, the facilities offer and the magnificent view of the Acropolis from roof terrace, makes it an ideal residence for business or leisure travelers.

Fine for short stay

I spent my last night in Athens here before heading back to the United States. The friendly hotel staff let me check-in a little early, which enabled me to get a jump on touring the New Acropolis Museum. The location is great. Near local urban stores and the Monastiraki and Omonia Square metro stations. The breakfast room on the second floor has small balconies that overlook bustling Athina Street. Syndagma Square is also within walking distance. My room was small and simple, but it was clean and had a private bath and air conditioning (important for a mid-July stay). One of the pillows was made of a very comfortable visco-elastic foam. Breakfast was simple, but the yogurt was probably the thickest and richest of all those served at the four hotels at which I stayed during my 10 days in Greece. The only thing I didn't like about this hotel was related to its age. Although some aspects were charming, the room paint color and bathroom tiles were drab.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

You can avoid the EUR 35-40 cab ride to and from the Athens airport by taking the X95 bus that terminates at Syndagma Square. EUR 3,20 for the bus, and 1 Euro for the metro ride to/from Monastiraki Square (just one stop on blue line) if you want to minimize walking.

Clean, well-located, typical European

Friendly and helpful guys at the reception. Basic continental-type breakfast (nothing fresh). Nice and clean small rooms. Easy walk to Plaka, Acropolis. Hotel felt totally safe (esp for two young women). I would stay at this hotel again, for the price and location. Just keep in mind-- totally European standards insofar as size. You're just sleeping in the hotel anyway :-)

Don't take a cab from the airport to the hotel-- take the X96 bus from the airport for 3.20 Euro to Stygmata square. You can easily navigate to hotel from there, just use a travel guide. Either this, or pay 40 Euro.. your choice. Same goes for returning to the airport. Frequest buses, X95, from Stygmata to airport for 3.20 Euro!

tres bien situe pres de monistiraki

tres bien situe pres de monistiraki soit a peine 5 minutes de la station de metro aeroport et en plein centre a 15 minutes de l'acropole et 5 minutes de plaka.personnel tres sympa et accueuillant et chambres fonctionnelles et propres.prix tres interessant.a conseiller
