We came for a combine conference & pleasure visit. Great location close to Syntagma Square, Plaka, Zappeion, Acropolis which suited perfectly our needs. Modestly-sized room but convenient for a 2-day stay.

The Amazon hotel was immaculately clean and on a quiet street in a good, safe location. Housekeeping even does a turn down service to make your bed and replace towels, which is great on those summer days when you need two showers and a nap. Breakfast is basic but the food is fresh. I thought the staff was very friendly as well. The one drawback is that the rooms are small, though some rooms have bigger bathrooms than others.

Clean but Small
The Amazon was in a super location. Walkable to all the fabulous Syntagma features. After taking the Metro from the airport to Syntagma Square terminal, nobody could help us with getting to the Amazon Hotel. The address was the only way Metro officials were able to help us. Probably two blocks from the Square. The lobby could fit into any modern master bath. The elevator was so small that we had to go up one at a time with one suitcase each. The room was sparse and small. The bathroom even smaller. My husband and I are not big people, but each barely fit into the shower. Breakfast was so-so. But we were did not know what to expect in a new country. We were out by 10:00 a.m. to catch our cruise and just chalk most "unknown" hotel destinations as part of the journey. Probably hunt for something else next time.

Short walk from hotel
There is a lot to do and dine around Syntagma Square. Go to the restaurant at the Grande Bretagne Hotel on the Square and you will not believe the view from the terrace seating. It faces the Accropolis all lit up which is the familiar postcard in real life. Fabulous.

Good location, so-so service
Location is great, walking distance to the Plaka and Acropolis - about 10 to 15 minutes walk. The room is small but clean. There was a faint smell of tobacco even if we asked for non-smoking but it was not too bad. Elevator is the smallest ever-it says for 4 people but one normal sized person can barely squeeze in with a suitcase. There was supposed to be in-room internet access but this was not working. On our way out the female at the front desk said she would give us a new cable when we came back in. When we came in their shifts had apparently changed and there was a male at the front desk. We told him what the female said but he said If you have a cable there why should I give you another one. If the one you have doesn't work what's the point of giving you another one. He didn't offer any other solution. Even if we had a previous experience where changing a cable had helped us obtain internet service in the past, we saw it was useless to argue with him. We had sort of been satisfied with the hotel for the value we paid for until this point.

The cafe just across is pretty expensive compared to walking 10 minutes to the Plaka where there are lots of inexpensive tastier choices at the sidewalk cafes and restaurants.
