Not as good as I was expecting from former Marriott

Positives: nice and quiet room, great (really great) breakfast on mezzanine floor, friendly stuff Negatives: aged everything - former Marriott did not put a penny to renovations - still 100 years old CRT TVs in the room; overpriced internet access; expensive parking Real problem: few dried blood drops at the bathroom floor; it was taken care of after call to the service desk - but absolutely unacceptable to begin with Notes: be aware that Acropolis is not as close as it looks like when you look at the map - you'll need taxi or public transportation

Great hotel, but aged a bit too much

This use to be a great place to stay in Athens, especially if you are from the US - even bathroom appliances are all the same as you would see in the USA. Do not book executive floor - no real value for your money - unless you've not added breakfast to your main reservation. Our room was not cleaned properly - there were few drops of dried blood on the floor next to the toiled and I've had to call management to get it resolved. Not good - right? At the end everything was sorted out but this time our stay here was spoiled. The only thing that made our experience a bit better was a great breakfast next morning.

Excellent Hotel

We currently live in Naples, Italy for work and I took my family of four to Athens to visit the historical city during early April timeframe. The weather was perfect and it was during the beginning of the tourist season so the city was not yet crowded. This trip was on par with other vacations we have taken and were completely satisfied with the overall experience. - Convenience: Conveniently located close to downtown. Traveled with kids so we didn't mind paying cab fare to select site locations in Athens. City had good transportation system though, if you do not want to take the cab. There is no shuttle service to/from hotel if arriving via air. Far from the airport so either arrange transportation to/from hotel via hotel, your transportations agency, or arrange with cab, although arranging from the hotel will cost twice as much. - Customer Service: Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and spacious. They spoke very good english (as most cab drivers we had). - Restaurant: Breakfast was included in our package and did not use hotel facilities although the prices were a little expensive. There are other restaurants within walking distance. Good breakfast although the menu did not change during our 5 day stay and the food consisted of regular American menu with Greek food as well. - Spa services: Like the restaurant, we did not use the spa services and enjoyed other local spa sites. - Internet: Wi-Fi Free on the lobby only and did not pay for Wi-Fi. Recommend use the lobby internet since you will be probably be tired from walking throughout the city. Good experience and highly recommended if its within your budget. We did not use most of the amenities (restaurant, spa, internet) because we absorbed most of what the local area has to offer.

good value

Nice hotel. Quite affordable and comfortable compared to other places we had stayed in Athens. I bit too far for walking to center of action, but a quick taxi ride there. They tried to charge me extra for my teenaged kids, so I had to fight it. Nice pool and bar on roof!

Great hotel in a not so great location

Awesome swimming pool on the rooftop with an amazing view of the Acropolis. The hotel rooms, breakfast, etc.. all at the Marriott standard that i've expected and has been exceed for an hotel in Europe. But the physical location of the hotel is less than desirable. The hotel shuttle ends at 2;30pm hence you're stuck with cabs.

Enjoy the food in the Plaka.. about 4 -5 Euro taxi ride if you catch the cab on the street rather than asking hotel to hail you one.

Fabulous Hotel in Athens!

This hotel was fabulous! The location was pretty good, with a great view of the Parthenon from the rooftop pool and bar. Since it wasn't located close to the Plaka, shuttle bus service was available. On top of that, the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. We ran into some complications on our trip and the staff helped us work out all the kinks. We are travelers who typically don't stay at 5 star hotels, so this was a great experience. I highly recommend staying at this hotel.
