Ancient history meets modern luxury
Koukla Sep 4, 2009
This is the first time I've been there since the remodel. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. We had a fantastic ... view of the Acropolis and Mt Lycabbettus. The price was very reasonable and even included the sumptuous breakfast buffet that is otherwise pretty expensive as is most of the food in the hotel. There are some great tavernas nearby that are less expensive. The metro stops 2 blocks away and you can take it to the new Acropolis museum which is fabulous or to Monastiraki to go shopping. They have the best size pool for downtown Athens. People were friendly and service was very good.
Traveler type: Family
Grab the metro for one euro and head to Syntagma (one stop away. You can also take in the changing of the guards at that stop or switch trains for other parts of Athens. The Metro is the cleanest train I've ever been on.

nice hotel, pricey incidentals

Snooty vibe, breakfast host looked at my wife up and down, lady at Galaxy bar turned us away for being in shorts (we're ... tourist, its our honeymoon, its hot out...what do you expect?!). Hotel room was spacious, clean and trendy, comparable to any nice Vegas Hilton room. View of Acropolis is nice, but in the distance. View on the Galaxy bar was very nice. Location was 30-45 minute walk to Plaka and Acropolis. Parking was pricey at 25euro/night, so we parked across the street in the residential area next to the newstand for free. WiFi was pricey, but you have cafe's nearby offering it free. 7euro for a can of coke or standard Snickers bar in the minibar. 25-30euro for breakfast buffet, 35euro per entree for dinner.
Traveler type: Couples
Plaka and Acropolis is better done with taxi, bus or car rental. Its a good long 45 min. walk each way.

Hilton is a high quality option in a great location with wonderful views. As a business traveler, the Executive Lounge is a ... nice perk although the ¬23 / day for Internet is ridiculous.
