Very nice accomodations

Hotel is very convenient to Syntagma square but it took me a while to figure out where it was. I made several inquiries on ... the street and was finally pointed in the right direction. The hotel is always busy but the front desk staff are extremely helpful and very patient. I will stay there again when I am in Athens. It is a great location for sightseeing. Walk to the Metro and be at the Acropols Museum in one stop. Walk to the Agora and the Roman Forum. Shopping and dining in the Plaka is very close and you are right off a main shopping street if that is of interest.

I went to Athens just to see the Acropolis. The hotel is very well situated, and we walked to everywhere - the Acropolis, ... Plaka, Monastriki, the Benaki Museum, the new and outstanding Acropolis Museum, etc. Like most places in Europe, prices for the simplest things were high but the hotel was very good value, especially with the outstanding free breakfast bar. I would have liked to have had information on where to eat that was close by, especially which tavernas offered music and dancing. We found one, but we were leaving early the following day so we didn't go to it. The hotel should have little maps (You are here plus good restaurants and cafes for people watching). This was our first trip to Athens...we wouldn't go again because one need not see the Acropolis twice, but if you hadn't been to it yet, it should be on your "bucket list."

If you have just a small suitcase with you, consider taking the train to/from the airport. The train costs just 10 euros for one trip whereas a taxi (from Syntagma are) costs 30.

Great location, good price
California orchid Sep 14, 2009
We first were given a small room in the back. The bathroom tap broke in the middle of the night. We were told to shut off the ... water and that someone would deal with it in the morning. The morning staff was much more responsive. We were immediately switched to a larger room with working plumbing, still in the back (that's better as it cuts on the street noise, but there is a constant hum from the hotel air conditioner). The hotel location is great, close to everything, and relatively quiet. Rooms are very clean, breakfast is fine. We'll be back for a couple more nights at the end of the month and put in a request for a room with a view of the Acropolis. There is an extra charge of 10 euros for those.

Free wifi at Syntagma Square. You can sit in one of the local cafes or McD's and do your work. Or like me, you can Skype your family at 2 am from the steps of the Parliament building.

Great spot in the middle of everything
Desert Dwellers Aug 27, 2009
It's often hard to find accommodations for a family of 4 in Europe without booking 2 rooms. The Cypria promised a quad, and ... they gave us adjoining rooms with a small common area -- like a little suite. Worked fine! Staff was friendly and helpful. WiFi was a little flakey; they seemed to turn it off late at night. Breakfast was substantial, and a great way to start the day. Location can't be beat, close to Syntagma and all the transportation options from there, close to the Plaka and Acropolis, and lots of shopping and dinner options. They even give you drink tickets for their little bar next door for fruit juice, chocolate, or ouzo!

Athens Cypria Review
Weary Traveler Jun 15, 2009
The Athens Cypria is in a great location, once you find it. It is loacted right in Syntagma Square and is a convenient walk ... to the Acropolis and Plaka. We found the hotel to be pleasant enough, but the location was the highlight. Breakfast was included in the room rate and was quite nice even though you had to walk through the smoking area to get to it. They do not have any non-smoking rooms, but the room we had was not a problem. The bathroom was a good size with a good tub and shower. We enjoyed our stay here, but would have preferred softer beds. The location really makes this hotel a good value for the $$ spent.

Good location, near the Metro
Clara Oct 25, 2008
The hotel is in a very convenient location. You can take the Metro from the airport and its just a 5 minute walk from the ... station. The staff was very friendly at check in. They were not able to help with much advice on touring opportunities. The room was comfortable with a view of the Acropolis, although a little bit obscured by an ugly building, but still very nice. We received a wellcome drink at the hotel bar and were able to relax in a pleasant outdoor atmsmosphere. Breakfast was ample and the food was tasty and fresh.

Exceptional fvalue for price range, Magnificent breakfast included.
Clyde Aug 1, 2008
I travel to Athens often and use this class and price hotel range. I was blown away by the dollar value and comfort compared ... to previous trips. I was met by friendly and exceptionally courteous staff. The room was more than adequate with a full size bed that would be rated a market firm with soft pillows. Quality and clean towels were provided with mat and the hotel provided adequate portions of bar, liquid soap and shampoo. The A/C control was at my disposal and cooled the room in a matter of minutes. Leave the hotel and turn right and you are in Monastraki, Walk staight and you hit the Plaka, a little left and down and you hit the Acropolis, to your full left you are headed to Syntagma and up and to the left you are in Omonia after a bit, absolutely perfect if you like walking. Three minute walk to the subway and four to the bus lines and tram in Syntagma, ten to the Central lines of Omonia. Enjoy traditional Greek coffee you prepare yourself or be served filter with smile and condiments. The breakfast included meats, cheeses, cereals, fruits, eggs- scrambled or boiled, breads... Wow, the breakfast for one would clear twenty Euros on the street and was included in the price! This is the best place for the money I can think of to start your day in the vicinity. After eating on the street I had friends join me at the Athens Cypria for breakfast at an addittional cost of 10 Euros per person and that cannot be beat! I walked in and did not use a car so I am not sure about parking if you rent. Did see a place for scooters. Staff printed out directions for me when I asked. There is no internet available at the hotel. Ther is a free access point at a store called 'Public' near McDonalds nearby. They also have wireless if you have your own laptop. Thank You Cypria for your services.

Great location
Georgia Jul 21, 2008
The Athens Cypria is located in a great area of Athens. It is walkable to Plaka, Syntagma, and other tourist areas. It has a ... nice outdoor cafe. There was a welcome fruit basket in the room, as well as coupons for free drinks. Our room was rather dark, with one small window. It contained 4 twin beds, which was fine, since it is very difficult in Athens to find rooms accomodating more than 3 people. The bathroom was modern and well equipped. The main downside was the odor when you walked into the hotel. It was not appealing at all. All in all, it was sufficient for one night before we flew out the next day. The staff was very friendly and helpful, securing our taxi and handling our bags. All in all, it was a pretty good hotel.

Clean modern rooms in center of city
Mitch Jun 6, 2008
I found the the Hotel Cypria to be a very good value. It is in the heart of Athens, close to Syntagma square and thus close ... to all the tourist sites. Easy walking distance to pretty much anywhere. Hotel has a somewhat odd layout, but room was reasonably sized and well-appointed for this part of the world. Bathroom is clean with reasonably modern appointments. Breakfast comes with room and is fresh and well done. There are bars next door and outside for late evening drinks. My main complaint was that the bed was hard, but in my experience, this is the norm for this region. Free wifi would be nice, but you can get this at Syntagma Square or at the McD's down the street if you don't mind doing your business in public. Overall, I was pleased with my room and would happily stay here again for business travel, although not necessarily for 'romance'.
