Perfect Stay
The hotel was clean and warm, the breakfast was perfect. But the staff were really really helpful, from the top right down, they made me feel so welcome. I would definately go back again and wouldnt consider staying anywhere else. Excellent location, right near the metro and markets and fantastic value for money.

The hotel is ok, the staff is nice, the buffet breakfast is very good. The internet in the main lobby is good but in the room, the signal is very weak. The view from the 7th floor is good cause we have a view of the Acropolis and you can take a drink while watching the lighted Acropolis at night. The metro station Methaghourio is very close.

Fantastic staff, terrible location
The shortcomings are not the fault of the staff, all of whom were extremely helpful and polite. The neighborhood is not good; there are no restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, or any other creature comforts nearby. The only thing the neighborhood boasts is the Metro station. The rooms are sparse, but clean, and have everything one would require from a hotel. I will say, however, that two twin mattresses pushed together do not a "queen" bed make.

Better than I expected
The staff was very helpful and let us use their printer and fax machine. Wifi in room was weak but functional. Beds not very comfortable. A/c is set at 25 degrees. It is on a busy street, but double-paned balcony made the noise tolerable. Breakfast was more than enough to fill us up. Very close to metro. Room was clean but had a funny smell. The area seemed to be a lot safer than Omonia etc.

Time-saving tip:
Not Applicable
The street signs were not visible from the square and it was hard to find the hotel the first time. To get there from the Metaxourghio metro station, take the Karasaki (sp?) Square exit, turn right on the first major street you come to, and the hotel is on your right.

Entertainment tip:
Short drive from hotel
Monastraki is just one metro stop so it is very convenient to go there. Taxis were on strike so we had to use metro for all transportation. A Euro 14 metro 7 days pass is great value if you stay longer than 3 days. Daily pass is 4 Euros.

Good budget hotel!
This is a good place to stay if you are travelling on a budget. The hotel is very close to the metro and is within walking distance to the sights. The room was clean and there was a computer in the lobby with internet (which they didn't charge). You get a simple breakfast in the morning. What more do you need if you are looking for a budget hotel? True, the room was basic and I think the statement "superior 3* hotel" in the description is rather tongue in cheek. The area it is in was grim and a little seedy. I was disappointed with this at first but then I realised that much of Athens was like that. There is a 5* hotel very near by and so they are apparently not so worried by the area. For the price paid, I think it was good value!

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
I ate most evenings in a nearby 4* hotel. The food was very good value. I ate in a small restaurant early on in the holiday and spent the next day in bed with probable food poisoning.

Six nights at Apollo Hotel
Main reason to write this review comes from the excellent service [...]front desk clerk gave me during my stay. Though all the clerks were helpful. [...]really took the initiative in making my visit to Athens complete. She answered my questions and advised must see spots for the things I wanted to see. To top it off my last full day I planned to just go to the port taking no cruise just site see the docks. [...]took time to explain the time and cost of a day trip that would best suit my time frame. This made it so I now can say "I visited a Greek Island". I can't thank her enough for the memorable moment that was not planned for for greatly enjoyed. As for the room, it was exceptionally clean each day, bathroom appeared just remodeled though very very very tiny it was super clean. Very small room but each day when I returned it was like the maid took pride in making it nice. The free breakfast could have been better, but filling. Real milk and real orange juice would have been nice. Location was great, 1 block from metro I shot one of my weekly TV programs on the garden roof with Acropolis in the background. Marion explain how to get to the bus station for Delphi and the train station to Corinth (day trips I took) so it was just a few minutes to the main sites. The street just outside the hotel would not be a first choice, but a grocery store a block away helped.John

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Week of March 25th is holiday and most site are free in Athens and so was Ancient Corinth and the AcroCorinth. Busses were not running in Corinth so its taxi or walking. Make sure the taxi driver goes the 8 euro route not the 11 euro route from the train station to Ancient Corinth.
