The location was great. We were right at the subway (metro). The subway and close proximity to Syntagma square and the Plaka ... was excellent. Breakfast daily and a safe neighborhood too. We experienced center city and a little neighborhood feel too

great stay
Kasey Nov 11, 2009
This hotel is conveniently located a very short walk from the metro and easy to find. The staff was incredibly helpful and ... super nice, we were in town to run the Athens marathon and they gave us helpful advice on the area, and even offered breakfast early the day of the marathon (although we preferred to eat our power bars). The breakfast was great. Our only complaint was that the walls are pretty thin and we could hear our neighbors getting in at all hours of the night/morning. Also, when our neighbors smoked, some smoke would seep into our non-smoking room underneath the door. Definitely a great stay, nonetheless.

Tons of great Greek restaurants in the Syntagma square (a very short metro ride away).

Apollo Hotel - Athens
Athens, Greece. Apollo Hotel. Oct 18, 2009
The staff, for the most part, was excellent and very friendly. They booked us a taxi on our last day and offered to book ... excursions for us. They also did two wake-up calls for us. The negative things were that the beds were very uncomfortable, and it was very, very loud. It was hard to sleep. The neighborhood wasn't the best, but we were glad to stay in that area so that we could get the full experience of Athens. It was close to most of the things we wanted to see.

Eat at the small restaurants. The food at these places is amazing (especially the gyros), and it's actually better than at some of the more expensive restaurants that we went to. The bread and pastries, which can be found pretty much anywhere, are excellent as well.

Apollo Hotel

Hotel is noisy, housekeepers make the most noise. Room was micro but adequate for traveler that intends to only crash in ... room. If you plan to relax in room, forget it. TV micro. Breakfast is fair. Neighborhood around the hotel is run down but safe, I think. 20 minute walk to tourist areas. Best thing about hotel is view of acroplis at night from bar restaurant on roof. Breathtaking. Recommended only if you want a place to crash

Great Value at the Hotel Apollo
Travel Newbie Sep 24, 2009
If you're looking for a good value, the Hotel Apollo is for you. The staff is friendly, the room is basic, clean, and close ... to the Metro, which gets you to the Acropolis, and more in a matter of minutes. If you're looking for quiet or a spacious room/bathroom, you might go elsewhere. For me (solo traveler on a budget), Hotel Apollo was perfect!

Athens is characterised by motorcycle traffic, and you will suffer from this every night. The "buffet" breakfast elements are ... just those from a continental breakfast. Shower is really unconfortable. However, the rooms are big and clean.

Good budget hotel with friendly staff
Shotokan Jul 28, 2009
The receptionists ([...] and [...]) were friendly and very helpful. They offered suggestions for places to visit, areas to ... avoid, where to buy phone cards, catch cabs etc. Room and bathroom were cleaned thoroughly every morning. Location is very close to the metro station. Cotinental breakfast included hard-boiled eggs, bread rolls, jellies, cheese and cold-cuts, cereal and milk, canned peaches, Greek yoghurt, honey, tea, coffee and juice. The safe in the room was small, but a necessity. A/C was ice cold. Area gets a little noisy, so opt for non-balcony rooms. Overall a pleasant experience.
