A wonderful property with a good location. Excellent service is offered.(1108/AC) Light colours including beige and yellow are predominant. It is a low-rise building with balconies facing the street. The hotel is ideally located as it is within the vicinity of the Acropolis and Plaka. Additionally, it is only a 10 minutes' walk from the heart of Athens and the main shopping district. The metro station (Acropoli) is very close by.

I liked this hotel because of its location to the Acropolis. It was definitely worth staying at the hotel even if you had to ... pay 5.50Euros/hr for the internet but I wasn't in my room that often so it wasn't too bad. It was Awesome to be so close to the Acropolis I was about a 10 min walk to the entrance to the top. So that was worth it. I would recommend it to anyone....Overall good price and good location.

Mixed feelings - average overall
first-timer Jun 14, 2009
This was our first stay in Greece, and although I understand the complaints about the lack of aesthetics on the particular ... street in which the hotel was located, we could overlook that as the price was right. We had to book two rooms per night for our family of four, so price was an important consideration as was close proximity to a metro station (which we took pretty much everywhere) and to local drugstores and cafes. These were all positives. The included breakfast was decent (nothing special, but suited our needs - better than a continental breakfast) and a convenient way to start the morning before each day's adventures. The issues we would comment on are 1) the very moldy/musty smell of the rooms (I don't know how they could fix that short of tearing down and redoing all the carpets and drywall) which made it difficult for us to be in the room at times, and 2) the black mold on much of the sealants around the tub and shower stall. The sealants need either a good in-depth scrubbing with bleach, or maybe recaulking, as it appears to be the result of years of use. The hotel's website claims newly renovated rooms, so I'm not sure what this is about. Unfortunately, while the problem may be minor and easy to fix, it left us feeling like we were in a filthy environment (even though, to be fair, the rest of the bathroom and room was clean) and it made for a very unpleasant experience to shower as a result. We would recommend this hotel to a friend except for the moldy smell and bathroom issues. However, keep in mind that there may very well be rooms that do not have these problems. I can't know this as I can only comment on the two rooms we experienced. I'd like to add that there was a young, thin, blonde young woman (unfortunately, we didn't get her name) who we observed constantly and fervently cleaning throughout our days there. (We observed her cleaning the lobby, hallways, and outside front area of the hotel. We don't know if she is assigned to clean the actual rooms.) At any rate, she worked hard and we hope she is acknowledged for the good work she does.

I'd stay There Again
Happy GR Tourist Jun 2, 2009
From what I saw in regards to the area's surrounding other hotels & price, this one is by far the best. I just got to look ... around downtown Athens on a Sunday, but streets were crowded with people selling "junk". I would not feel safe after dusk if I were at the downtown hotels. Acropolis I felt very safe & is within a short distance from Metro (don't worry, it is easy to figure to us bus & metro with the help of the friendly Greeks. Also, MUCH cheaper than taxi. A couple of blocks to Temple of Zeus & Acropolis. The Acropolis Select was clean, the staff VERY helpful, and the breakfast buffet each morning was GREAT. I was at a 4 star that didn't have near the selection of foods as the Acropolis. The Staff even went as far as to call a travel agency for me while I was out touring to verify my arrangements for the next tour.

This hotel is tucked away, but in a great location for walking to all of the popular sites & b/t 2 metro stops. The hotel ... costs 80¬ per night if you book it there, so Orbitz is the way to go. The staff was very friendly. The carpet seemed in need of replacing. The internet is expensive to access in the lobby, but you can find an internet cafe several blocks away. If you want to cruise the islands, book in advance b/c the short cruises fill quickly. Eat @ the tasty local restaurants to save money.

If you're an early riser who enjoys breakfast, this is the hotel to be! The breakfast is fabulous! We tried to find some local eateries our first day for breakfast, but Greeks don't seem to eat breakfast! Don't make the same mistake; eat @ the hotel!

Good value. Clean hotel with a very helpful concierge. It was an excellent location with the old part of town just down the ... street with plenty of stores and restaurants. We were close to the Acropolis. It made our stay in Athens quite lovely.

When you step out of the hotel-go left-walk for about 5 minutes on the left side is the metro station. In that plaza is a good local restaurant on the right hand side-facing the station Further down the right side of the street on the corner, there is a store which sells items such as water, wine, etc.

The Acropolis Select hotel staff was very nice and very knowledgable and accomadating to me and my friend. We arrived very ... late and the check in was very simple. Only complaint was that the business center was just a desk and two computers with an internet service that was VERY slow. Make sure the internet is working before you pay for an access code. The room was pretty basic--good for the price per night. The bathrooms were also very basic. Close to subway/metro stops was good, and the area was relatively quiet--no traffic or anything. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again.

Overall the hotel was a great value for the money. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was very convenient and ... easy to find. There was a subway station just a few steps away, making it very easy to get around the city, or to the airport or the cruise port. The hotel staff was friendly and efficient. The breakfast was tasty and had a nice variety. At night we always felt safe walking around. There's even a few restaurants in the area that were open for late night meals. It's not a fancy hotel by any means, but it was CLEAN and a great value for the money. I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!

This hotel was very clean, and my room (509) was in the front and I had no problem with the noise that I read about. If you ... shut the balcony door you do not hear anything. I did not hear people next door breaking wind or talking etc. The room looks much better in person. It was close to public transportation as mentioned by other guests. It wasn't a far walk to main attractions, and there were places to eat and shop nearby.

I've stayed at the Acropolis Select several times over the last few years and have rarely been disappointed. Just two blocks ... from metro stop Syngrou/Fix, it is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Acropolis and Plaka. The front desk people are always very nice and pleasant, even when I check in after midnight. The hot breakfast is huge and delicious.

Probably cheaper than similar quality hotels in Plaka, and well worth it. Don't expect a view since the hotel is on a mostly residential street. But it is quiet, clean, and friendly. I often see a tour group staying there.

Fantastic front desk staff
Larissa Jul 22, 2008
The Acropolis Select is located a couple blocks from plaka, which was great for a single female traveler, like me. The front ... desk staff were extremely helpful going out of their way to assist me in making additional travel arrangements and helping me navigate the city. The room was very clean and had a huge patio with a canopy for shade, 2 chairs and a table. The AC worked really well, even in 35C temperatures. The morning breakfast was also nice, offering both hot and cold options. The mini pancakes had an apple flavor to them that made them my favorite. The fact that wireless internet was available was a big plus, however, it was set up by an outside company and you must purchase a card for 5 euros an hour of time, and it tends to be slow on Sundays (the staff said that this is not unusual). However, 3 blocks up the street there is a great cafe/ bar with free wireless service (they also offer a nice, affordable crepe menu). The metro station is only 1.5 blocks away, which made travel across the city quite simple. Overall, my experience was very pleasant and definitely return to the acropolis select in the future.

The breakfast(included in the price)had a decent variety. The room was very spacious with a large balcony and nice bathroom. I guess the only complaint is that the bed was a little hard. We stayed one week in June. NOTES: The smaller room was OK; no problem. The two twin beds and the crack were a bit ... annoying. We adapted to the shower sprayer. The AC was quiet and very effective. Traffic noise at the front of hotel was no problem (third floor). No coffee pot; we brought a hot-water pot + EU adapter. Room's refrigerator was big enough to hold our 3 one-liter bottles of grocery-store-bought water (we did not touch food or drinks in the fridge). TV had CNN, but we did not watch it. Complimentary buffet breakfast was wonderful. Small cafe restaurants near the Metro are pricey ($15++ USD meals); no cheap fast-food anywhere. From the hotel, you can walk or take Metro anywhere you want to go.

The hotel is within walking distance to Acropolis where Parthenon, Dionysos Theatre and other archeological ruins are ... located. It's is also about 3 blocks away from the Acropolis metro station, and near Plaka (old town), Monastiraki, Temple of Olympian Zeus and others. There are a lot of restaurants, souvenir shops, small groceries nearby. The location is quite safe even late in the evening. The buffet breafast served each day is satisfactory and varied. The hotel staff were okay. We were served hot coffee when we arrived. The room is quite small, but convenient, and clean. The roof deck is under construction(?). The elevator is small and the door is old-fashioned. You have to push or pull it to open/close it. There's no sliding pavement for the luggages, that's why I had to carry all the luggages up the hotel steps to the lobby. Also, there's no peephole in the room door.Overall, my group enjoyed our stay here.

The Acropolis Select served us well. It has a good location, walking distance to Acropolis and Plaka. The hotel staff were ... very friendly and helpful. The possibility for noise was there with a crane poised for construction across the street, but nothing went on during the 4 days we were there and it was very quiet. Breakfast was very nice.
