Elegant, luxury hotel in the capital of Bavaria, Germany
The original hotel on the Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski site was built by Maximilion II, King of Germany. The current hotel has 150 years of its own history providing a luxurious guest experience. Old World Charm
The Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski is an elegant hotel situated on one of the fancier streets in munich. The neighbours are Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton. Its clientele appear to be older and wealthy. There is lots of fur on display at this time of year, we were there for the Christmas Markets. Every now and then, what appears to be European Celebrates flash by in large sunglasses. The Hotel is an international hotel and every member of staff I encountered spoke fluent English and I'm sure I heard them speaking Italian, Russian and Spanish too. The Staff were very friendly and helpful at every encounter. The room was clean and pleasantly decorated. My only minor complaint was that the double room we booked appeared to have two single beds pushed together. Not the end of the world and I though this might be the case based on the description. While we there it was a Sunday in advent and we received a "gift from Santa". Chocolates, Nuts and Oranges in a pretty red bag. This is a little example of the nice touches you experience at this hotel. We did eat in the lobby one evening. It was very enjoyable, even if you only did it for people watching. But I do think there nicer, more affordable dining options only a block away. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for old world charm in a prefect location to see down town Munich.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
When visiting Munich a trip to the HofBrauhaus is required. However for a quieter version of a great beer hall. Try the haxenbauer at scholastica. It is just a block away. Great Bavarian food and beer at good prices.

The hotel was in an excellent location, 5 - 10 minute walking distance to shops, restaurants, museums, metro/train. We had 2 rooms for our family of 5. Initially we had a problem with one room; there was a horrible banging noise that started up hours later. They kindly moved us to another room that was "no smoking"; however, it was a "smoking" room 6 months earlier and the rugs/bedspreads still reeked of smoke. They kindly changed our room again and it was fine. The staff was efficient and friendly. We went out for coffee/breakfast every morning because we did think the food at the hotel was expensive. I guess we are spoiled Americans and like having a coffee machine in our rooms but there was none and the coffee in the lobby was expensive (plenty of coffee shops). And breakfast was not included. Despite that we would still highly recommend this hotel.

Cosmo grill is very good and is a little burger place about a block away, incase you need an American taste. Vapiano has good Italian food and is a short walk up Maximillian.

Nice hotel...but overpriced
This was my first trip to Munich - coincided with Oktoberfest. While the hotel was very well located, the room was clean but very small while the pool and workout room were decent. Overall, the hotel is nice but very expensive. The breakfast buffet, which was not included, was also very pricey. Granted it is now a member of the Four Seasons chain, it really doesn't measure up to other properties owned by the company.

While a taxi ride from the airport is about 55 Euros, the train is much cheaper and is a short walk from the hotel.
