Avoid rooms at the far corners

I booked this hotel for a business trip after finding most other locations unavailable during Oktoberfest. The price seemed alarmingly high, but not prohibitive for a (advertised) 4-star hotel. However, my room was lower than average quality, with only 1 single bed and no sofa or comfortable chair. The room I was assigned was at the most remote corner of the hotel, resulting in a stronger wireless internet signal from the neighboring hotel. I was never able to connect from the room, but had to walk out in the corridors or sit in the lobby to obtain (advertised) free internet. Without air conditioning, windows had to be opened for ventilation, so, instead of sleeping, I learned many drinking songs from happy throngs returning to the train station from the beer tents. And that was in between train wheel squeals.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Augustiner Kellar (biergarten) is a short walk to the west on Arnulfstrasse. Althought the food was not special, the atmosphere was great. Sitting outside watching Bayern football on a projected screen while customers returned to their tables from the bar with 6 liters (Mass) in hand was memorable.

Great location (near main train station) but rooms were badly outdated and worn out. Furniture and carpet stained/torn. Somewhat noisy near train station, but expected. Clock radio must have been from the 1960's. Breakfast looked good, but had to leave before it was served to make flight.

Take the Lufthansa Airlines airport bus from the train station instead of the S Bahn. It costs more, but is faster and more secure. Runs every 20 minutes all day.

Munichtraveler

The hotel really is like a 2 star hotel in the states. The bed was a twin bed and very uncomfortable with no A/C. It was clean, however. I would compare it to any budget hotel in the states. The best thing about it is that it is like one block from the central station. That is a plus. The price was very expensive for this hotel. The breakfast is ok, probably worth 5-10 euros. The staff was helpful and friendly..

Absolute Joke!

Very dated looking. The picture used to advertise the hotel room was nothing like the room we got! The room we got had old carpet and was full of stains, the wall was covered in markings and the TV was ancient with about 30 channels all in German only! How does the Regent call itself a 4 star hotel? The shower door didn't close properly so the bathroom floor was extremely wet after each shower. A complete rip-off and the so called mini-bar in our room was an absolute joke, it was like they wanted all our money with nothing in return. If you're going to shell out money on this place, you'd be much better off staying in a youth hostel as you would have a nicer stay.

Needs renovation

This is labeled as a four star hotel. It is worse than a two star!!!! We thought what we were getting was clean remodeled rooms that the website shows. We did not. I have never stayed in such a dirty uncomfortable room. The room looked like it had the same furniture from the 80s, and in condition from then as well. Lampshades were stained. Carpet was dirty. Bed was hard (could not get to sleep). You could hear everything going on outside. The elevator holds 2 People, not comfortably. The only positives were location by the central train station, the breakfast was ok, and the staff was ok as well. I spent 330 a night to stay here during octoberfest. What a waste of money!! Opt to say further at a nicer place and take the train to octoberfest.

Comfortable and great location

Simple, clean 80s style hotel. Basic room but very spacious. Breakfast quite expensive for what it is but a good spread.

Nothing special but did the job

I got a reservation about 1 hour after landing in Germany. Great location, it's right around the corner from a major transport hub. Nightlife and bars all within walking distance. Wild definitely stay again. And the bakfast wasn't bad either.
