Big Birthday in Munich

Went to Munich for a few days - super city .It was my husband`s Big Birthday and we went to the opera and a Ludwig castle amongst other things -Fasching included .Hotel opposite the station (which was useful - for trains/trams and breakfast). The latter was hideously expensive in the hotel - as was coffee in the lobby (as usual no tea/coffee in the room - why not?). This hotel was comfortable and had a nice swimming pool.Check in took a while (staff seemed inexperienced and young).Mentioned the birthday (the reason for coming) which was ignored - and no card or anything on the day (contrast to my birthday in Amsterdam at the Krasnapolsky).I felt a bit miffed about this - these sort of touches cost nothing and make an occasion a bit special. In summary I felt the hotel was comfortable but without breakfast included could only be described as expensive. We will probably not stay here again - back to the perfectly good hotel we usually stay in - this was an attempt at an extra bit of luxury.I have to say it does not seem to match the standard of other Meridiens which we have stayed in : Paris Etoile and Budapest.

Amazing Hotel

It was beautiful from head to toe. Location perfect. Shopping, strip clubs...sites...you name it...all close. Right across the street from the bahnhof. The price was well worth it from the lobby to the room. The staff was very helpful. I visited the spa area and didn't get to see the masseuse but the pool area is beautiful. Unfortunately the jacuzzi/hot tub is not only small, (3 cpls comfortably) but it isn't very hot either. Food was AMAZING!!! I had the duck and my friend had the steak. Breakfast equally amazing.

great for a quick city visit

The staff is very friendly, valet service is excellent and the restaurant is definitely five star. The rooms are spacious and equipped with everything you need. Walking is not easy for me so I appreciate the location of the hotel since I am able to walk to the city center without any problems. This was the second baptism we attended in Munich and stayed at the Meridian both times and I definitely will stay there again for our next occasion in Munich.

Great Base for A City Break

This hotel is right by the railway station but we did not hear any noise from the railway. We had a comfortable room opening on to the inner courtyard - all the even numbered rooms do. The staff were very friendly and our faltering attempts at German were generally well received before being replied to in perfect English. Room was extremely clean and the bathroom had an excellent shower. Overall a good base for a short break.

Octoberfest trip

We stayed here for Octoberfest, It was close enough to walk and we had a great time. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 was because the hot tub wasn't hot either day we went and the beds were only okay. It was a great location, easy to walk to Marienplatz, the downtown shopping area and lots of restaurants or easy to jump on the S Bahn, their subway, to get almost anywhere. The train station is the main hub for their subway system. This hotel is right across from the main train station. Lots of food nearby, and easy to get to and from the airport. Also they rent cars at the train station if you want to try your hand on their freeways (if you do get a car with navigation, it really helps and shows the speed limit which isn't always posted and also when there isn't one! Yay. Just don't pass on the right, it is a huge no-no and very unsafe.)

They don't really do breakfast in Germany that I could see. Lots of coffee shops and bakeries across the street in the train station. -- Octoberfest if from the second to last weekend in September for 2 weeks and 3 weekends. So the exact dates change each year. It is a blast.
