There was an internet cord prominently displayed, so I plugged in thinking it was free. Later, after I found a card on the ... opposite side of the table I also found they charged 22 Euros per day! Insane! And to be so sneaky about it, it just seemed... dastardly. The whole experience reeked of this similar attitude. The location is good, and easy to get onto the U-bahn.

Terrible front desk experience
KJF Oct 17, 2009
I checked in mid-afternoon. The clerk was inattentive, disappeared twice for several minutes without explanation while I ... stood there, and took an entire phone reservation as I waited in front of her. When I finally received my key, I found that I had been given a smoking twin room, versus the non-smoking king I had prepaid for. After waiting another 20 minutes to work my way back through the line to get back to the counter, the girl who had checked me in told me she had given me that room because no others were clean at that time!!! WTH?!? I am an experienced traveler as well as a former employee of a well-known hotel company, and this is obviously not how an inventory issue should be handled!! After waiting another hour in the nasty lobby I finally got the room I had requested. On checkout, the same incompetent employee was managing my line. She literally handled one customer for every five that the other clerks were handling. I generally use Holiday Inns as my backup locations in Europe. After this horrible experience, I will never again consider your chain.

Public transport is wonderful, driving looked difficult. S/Ubahn to airport terminal reliable, frequent, only about 9 euros and 20 min from mierenplatz, taxi probably over $100.
--CaptJohn, Colorado Springs CO Oct 3, 2009
Right across from the hotel is the Gasteig, where the Munich Philharmonic performs. There are also plenty of other performances daily, including some that are free to the public. There's also a library, shops, and cafes. A good alternative away from the city center.

The subway went directly to the hotel. Made getting from the airport to the hotel extremely convenient. The other time saver was the hotel provided information concerning tours.

Munich Holiday Inn City Center
CaptJohn Oct 3, 2009
Immaculate rooms/facilities, airconditioned, great location (walk to Ubahn, grocery store attached), two Ubahn stops to ... mierenplatz, forget driving take the S/UBahn--even to the airport (S8 only 9 euros and 20 min!). Taxi to airport would be over $100. Duetsch Museum two blocks, Octoberfest about 10min by Ubahn, Olympic site about 15 min by Ubahn. A bit pricey, but that's Europe in general and Munich during Octoberfest.

Good location near Munich's city center
Jeff Sep 30, 2009
Good hotel for the price, especially during Oktoberfest. The hotel is very accessible, connected to the Rosenheimer Platz ... subway station by a short walk underground. It's about a 25-30 minute walk to the Marienplatz City Center. There are 2 supermarkets and plenty of restaurants/shops right next to the hotel. Rooms were very clean and the staff was very friendly, although check in lines were long at all times of the day. There's no complimentary wifi/internet service and no personal safe in the rooms.

Great Location

This was a pleasure trip to just sightsee. The location of the hotel could not have been better. I enjoy walking so there ... was no place of interest that I couldn't walk to. If I chose not to walk the subway was right at the hotel. The train station was close making this anther time saver. The room was simple but clean. If you are use to alot of extra tolietries in the bathroom, there are none. The staff was courteous and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

Good hotel bad guests Aug 8, 2009
The location of the hotel was good but you couldn't use any of the amenities because of unruly guests. Check- in and check- ... out took around 1 hour and we did not get adjoining rooms or even rooms on the same floor for this stay. The parking situation was not good and was overpriced. I go to Munich once a year and will not be back to stay here inspite of its convenience and cleanliness.

Great Trip!
RF Jun 8, 2009
What a great location! There was an entrance to the hotel from the subway, which was only 2 stops or a great 10-15 minute ... walk to city center. It was also within walking distance to some museums and parks. There was a 24 hour convenience store next door to the hotel and a grocery store and drug store, among other stores, on your way to the subway, all without having to go outside. The staff of the hotel were very helpful and pleasant. The only negative thing I can say is there is only 2 English speaking channels on the T.V. and they were both news stations.

Nice hotel, Great location
m May 22, 2009
Great location, walking distance to the historic center and tourist attractions, restaurants (including Hofbrauhouse) and ... S-Bahn station is less than a block (3 min) away. Staff was friendly and spoke great English. Check-in took forever (maybe because I was there right at 2 pm and the line was long) Rooms were clean, pool was an average size

Location was crtical in my selecting the hotel. It had great access to subway, stores and center city. There was a ... refrigerator but it was unuseable for use in chilling water etc. Staff was most helpful, would stay again. Big draw back is that room rate escalated on Monday (2.5 times). Not worth the value at that rate;would therefore stay outside city center and commute on next trip there

The Munich City Center was a great stay, however...they have got to be kidding about the breakfast! Most hotels and inns in ... Germany include breakfast in your stay. The Holiday Inn tries to dupe you into a 30 dollar per person one! Please.
