The hotel concierge were terrible. One was nasty and directed us to a restaurant that was no longer in business. The other insisted the Christmas markets did not start until the next week when they opened that day.
The "non allergic" pillow reeked
of cigarette smoke and was way too flat to be useful. The temperature in the rooms was too hot and the windows locked.
Other than the proximity to the subway, there is nothing to recommend for this hotel. Hilton has some work to do here to improve!
This is truly a great hotel for a number of reasons. The price was outstanding compared to hotels in the city centre just 2 subway stops away. The staff was extremely courteous, professional, friendly, and responsive. The room was spacious and
clean, with modern furniture, comfortable beds, a nice-sized desk/work area, and a wide-screen TV. Our 8 year old son stayed for free. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Deutsches Museum which is a must-see. It is next door to the Gasteig which is the home of the Munich philharmonic. There is an S-Bahn train/subway stop right outside the front door of the hotel so getting around anywhere in or out of town is simple. The train to and from the airport drops you off right at the hotel because of this fact. Within short walking distance there are numerous delicious and varied restaurants including German, Italian, Chinese, Japanese (sushi), and even Afgani cuisine. The surrounding area is very safe to walk around at night. The hotel also has a restaurant at which we ate for a breakfast buffet which was quite delicious but pricey (and not included in the room price). There was wireless internet access available for a fee in the rooms and in the lobby of the hotel. I cannot stress how great the location of this hotel is. It is out of the whole touristy area and thus quieter and less pricey, but it is only 2 subway stops away from that area (Marienplatz) and it only takes about 3 minutes to get there by subway. I only had 2 complaints about the hotel, 1 minor and 1 major. The minor complaint was that the shower curtain stank horribly. The staff changed the curtain immediately, which was great. The major complaint is that the rooms are not air conditioned. We knew this when we booked our reservation and figured it would not be a problem in October, but for the first half of our stay the weather was summer-like and it was very hot and stuffy in the room. I was sweating and uncomfortable at night. I can't imagine what it would be like in July and August. For me, this is a deal breaker unless I'm in town from November to May. That is why I am giving the hotel only 3 stars. If they had air-conditioning it would be 5 stars for sure. If you don't care about the heat, then by all means this would be a great hotel at which to stay.

Short walk from hotel
Many delicious and eclectic restaurants right around the area.
Nice hotel, incredible location. The hotel is next to the city pedestrian center, across from the Deutsches museum, 10 minutes from the Hoffbrau house and sits on top of a train station with elevator access from inside the hotel. By s-train it is
30 minutes from the train station in the Munich airport. Lots of restaurants, and night life within a 15 minute walk. Staff speaks perfect English for those who haven't brushed up on their Deutsch!

The s-train is the perfect way to get around town and commute to and from the airport. All day tickets or weekly passes are a good buy.
