Leonardo Airport Hotel Hamburg

The hotel is old, but they keep it clean and the bed was comfortable enough. The location at the airport is nice and central. The staff was friendly and they offered an (at best) ordinary typical buffet style German breakfast. The bad: I had the impression that the breakfast was complimentary, since nobody told me otherwise until I checked out. I was being charged 10.00 Euro per day for breakfast, which consisted of one roll and a bit of butter and jelly. That, plus the surprise 10.00 per day parking fee in their parking lot and the breakfast made for a nasty extra $200.00 surprise charge. The free WIFI did not work during my stay and I found myself without communication (skype) since that is the only way I can use my US cell for calls from and within Germany.

We stayed here just one night because we wanted a hotel close to the airport because of our late arrival. This location was perfect. However, we had two large suitcases, and with no elevator and me being pregnant, my husband had to do a lot of hauling. There was also no parking by the time we arrived that night, so my husband had to drive around the block and park on the grass in the rain. Not a deal breaker, but was not ideal. Also, air conditioning would have made the room more comfortable. Breakfast was enjoyable.

I wanted a nice, clean, quiet place to sleep during a long layover. This hotel met my needs. It was very easy to to the suttle to and from the hotel.

Pleasant stay, friendly staff and no aircraft noise.

Best location to airport.

After spending three nights at the Leonardo, I must say it is a very nice hotel for the price. My room was large and quite confortable compared to the hotel I stayed in while in London. The staff at the Leonardo couldn't have been more friendly or accomadating. It's an easy 8-10 minute walk to the airport and rail transport into Hamburg. On the downside, there is no elevator, English access on the TV and I feel the price of breakfast was very high for what was offered. Despite the foregoing, I would stay at the Leonardo again if in Hamburg.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, room was excellent, large and comfortable, clean, modern and a great bathroom. I'm trying to find an excuse to stay there again as I love the bathtub!

It started out ok but, no elevator, had to cart my bags up a circular flight of stairs. Staff nice and friendly. Room was clean, bed ok. Asked staff about nearby resturant I was told they would take me to there sister hotel. No, been there done that, bad food and very expensive. My colleague said, "worst weinerschintal ever". I did find a very good eating establishment a few blocks away, I found on my walk. Next morning packed my bags and lugged them down the stairs, A continenal breakfast was set up by the bar sat down with coffee and a staff member asked for my room number, asked if there was a charge, no answer, insisted for room number which I gave, figured it was a language thing. Check out, parking charge! I had no car! Breakfast charge, 10 euros! Remember the no answer? I guess there was a reason. Internet charge! That was ok but exspensive because I knew abou it, but only because they answered when I asked. Oh at there sister hotel there was no charge for breakfast! Would I stay again NEVER!! Would I recomend to another person only to an enemy!!

Nahe Flughafen, trotzdem ruhig. Nur ärgerlich, dass das WLan nicht funktioniert, wenn man dringend ins Internet sollte. Die Reparaturarbeiten dauerten doch einige Stunden. Wurde jedoch informiert sobald diese ageschlossen waren.

Ich würde das Hotel lediglich als Unterkunft für grössere Ziele empfehlen. Die Einrichtung ist in Ordnung, hat wenige kleine Mängel. Der Zimmerservice legt eine gute Leistung an den Tag - das Bett wird täglich frisch bezogen, das Zimmer gereinigt. Das Badezimmer verfügt über eine Dusche und ein grosszügiges Waschbecken mit Spiegelschrank. Die Fugen wirken etwas vergilbt, würde aber nicht behaupten, dass es Schimmel ist. Man stellt die Nähe zum Flughafen (ca. 10min zu Fuss) auch durch die Akustik fest. Startende und Landende Flugzeuge lassen sich hören, doch es liegt innerhalb meiner Toleranz. Störend wirken sich wohl eher die gut hörbaren Hotelgäste in den Gängen aus - man kann beim Telefongespräch im Gang problemlos vom Zimmer aus mithören. Das Hotel verfügt zwar über einen Hotspot, wird jedoch mit € 4.- für tatsächliche 24h Internet berappt. Lohnt sich nicht, denn die Geschwindigkeit liegt weit unterhalb der 3G Bandbreite - sobald ein Bild geladen werden muss, ist warten angesagt. Das Hotel verfügt über einen Shuttlebus, der Sie vom Flughafen zum Hotel bringt und auch wieder zurück (Kostenlos). Für angehende Piloten und Fluglotsen die zum DLR müssen, wird dieser Weg dorthin und zurück auch kostenlos angeboten. Ich persönlich finde das entzückend und betrachte es auch nicht als selbstverständlich. Das Rezeptionspersonal steht Ihnen so gut wie immer zur Verfügung, ist zuvorkommend und hat ausgezeichnete Manieren. Ein Lift ist nicht vorhanden und das Hotel erstreckt sich über zwei Stockwerke. Könnte sich mit viel Gepäck als mühsam erweisen. Das Frühstück kostet zwischen €10.- und €11.-.
