Value at a cost
Hotel Lumen am Hauptbahnhof is located very close to the main railway station, a great advantage for travel connections, a disadvantage when it come to the evening, the area becomes very sleazy, drug addicts and night workers abound. The hotel is good value though do not expect all facilities to be available. The reception is on the first floor, the only access from the street is by way of stairs, there is an elevator once you are at reception. Overall the hotel is a good bet if you need to be close to the railway station, there may be better options if this is not the case.

When exiting the Hauptbahnhof look for the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe on your right, cross the dual carriageway keeping the museum to your right and look for the Western Union sign, you will soon be in Steindamm and close to the hotel.

Hyvä hinta-laatu-suhde
Huone oli siisti ja kylpyhuone vastaremontoitu. Vastaanottoon joutui kapuamaan puolitoista kerrosta jyrkkiä portaita, joten raskaiden kantamusten kanssa hotellia ei voi suositella. Hissi pysähtyi kerrosten välissä, joten tavaroita joutui kanniskelemaan jonkin verran. Aamiainen oli runsas ja maittava.

Hyvä hinta-laatu suhde
Hyvä hinta, ihan hyvä hotelli lähellä rautatieasemaa. Sijainti hieman epämääräisellä kadulla. Mainoskuvassa reilua Photoshoppausta.

Très agréable séjour dans un hôtel idéalement situé
Bonne récupération entre bonnes ballades à travers les différents quartiers de la ville faciles d'accès à pied ou en transport vu la situation de l'hôtel. Seul bémol: quelques clients un peu bruyants!

Tout est à proximité et en particulier à la gare centrale qui a l'avantage d'offrir tous les services (restauration à petits prix, achats de base et ce 24h/24 y compris les jours fériés!) donc pas de souci à se faire! Acheter dès l'arrivée la carte des transports en communs qui permet l'accès sans restriction à tout le réseau de bus de métros de l'équivalent RER et donc de parcourir la ville à petit prix.

5 Gehminuten vom Hbf. Im Haus wird geraucht. Der Rauch ging durch den fingerdicken Türspalt am Boden auch ins Zimmer.

Nett, Gut, Günstig
Es hat uns gut gefallen. Das Frühstück ist für unsere verhältnisse super. Auch wenn das Hotel nicht in einem Nobelviertel steht, würden wir uns wieder für das Hotel Lumen entscheiden. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Nice hotel near the train station
We enjoyed our stay. Room was nice and clean. The staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good. Price was reasonable. The area might not be that suitable for families with children, but for adults it's okay. A few girls were making business on the street, but nothing too bothering. Also Sex shops and peep shows are found on this street. We were traveling as a couple and the location was good for us, mainly because the train station was just a few hundred metres away. And I must say the hotel was very quiet and so good to rest in. It also felt safe as you need to ring the bell on the front door to get in (after they see you from the camera).
