The best hotel in town which enjoys a very tranquil location.
0907 hm It is built in a very attractive and elegant chalet style and looks extremely impressive. This hotel is situated in a peaceful rural location on a hillside 2km from the city centre whence fabulous mountain views can be enjoyed.
Grand Sonnenbichl Rooms
Guest Rooms
The bedrooms vary a great deal in size, design and furnishing, but on average they are large and though differing in colour scheme and detail all are traditionally decorated. Both the rooms and the bathrooms are in exceptional condition.

Restaurant
The hotel has three restaurants. One is a traditional beer pub which is very rustic in decor and serves bavarian dishes. The other two are a gourmet restaurant serving French and nouvelle cuisine and the second restaurant, which is the hotel's main dining room. Both are elegantly and traditionally furnished. There is also a bar.

My husband, 16 year old daughter and I went to Garmisch to ski. The hotel is not within walking distance to the slopes nor to the city center. Bad TRAFFIC to slopes so make proper travel allowance. The room was dark and the extra bed for our
daughter was not comfortable. The bathroom was quite small; the shower head was too low so need to either kneel or detach shower head from its post. The room was spacious, warm and clean. The TV was sitting on the desk which limits desk space; too low for watching from bed. The breakfast room was grand and the food was plentiful though they offered the same line up of food every morning. There's only one computer terminal for customers' use. Need a car to stay in this hotel.

The Pizza Hut at city center is quite interesting - good food and service and the price is right. Most local restaurants are very pricey and food is bland. The restaurant in the hotel is quite expensive.
