No AC in August
Sigh, I wish I knew why German hotels refuse to put Air Con in rooms. This was a great hotel in a perfect location for what we were doing. The room was nice overall, and in winter I would have enjoyed it a lot. However, it was August, and it was scorching hot and crazy humid in the middle of the city. There was a ceiling fan, with one speed, barely moving. At least there could have been a fan to set up in the room, but AC would have been better.

Disappointing....
Hotel is tired and needs investment to bring it back to a standard befitting the city and location. Bed was uncomfortable, pillows were covers filled with quilts, toilet was in way of wash hand basin, sink plug didn't work, low ceiling and towel rail mounted over bath meant you banged your head getting in and out of shower (and I am not that tall at 5'7')'. Would expect rooms to be equipped with English language satellite TV channels given cosmopolitan customer base but non-existent except one CNN news channel. Oh, and don't fall for the brand name or 4 stars logo, neither live up to the standard you would equate with the name in the UK, more a 1 star bed & breakfast at best, only positive I can say is staff were friendly and tried to do their best to help but there is only so much you can do with the mediocre facilities. I will not be staying here returning again...

Certainly not 4 star but price was low
As title says clearlynot a 4 star, was ok if you are not spending toomuch time in the room. And beware of the cleaners they wont leave you alone even on the day you checkout!

Good for the money spent
They did not say anything about the charge for the breakfast. 15EUR was charged upon check-out. Most hotels in the states offer/include free breakfast; therefore, I didn't even think about asking about its cost when the clerk asked if we were going to eat in the morning. There was no computer or connection available to the guests, and that was inconvenient, but the location was really good. It's within 5 minutes from the Frankfurt Main.

Great location for the price
The Savoy was a great bargain located ideally for our brief 2 day trip to Frankfurt. Old Town can be easily reached on foot along a beautiful river walkway from the hotel. Since we were catching a train early the next morning the 3 blocks to the train station was perfect for our schedule.

Dining tip:
Long walk from hotel
A great old fashioned, local restaurant is Solberfass'je on the outskirts of Old Town. The food is excellent at about 1/2 the price found in tourist spots of Old Town.

Simple and efficient room
The room size is expected for a typical room in Europe. The single bed room was perfect for one person and it was not as cramped as I thought it might. The bathroom was actually nicer than I expected and looked very new. The only bad part was the water pressure wasn't what I expected as it was a little weak.
