Very convenient location

The hotel is just fifty meters from the main train station in Frankfurt. It was great to be able to just walk across the street to the hotel. The neighborhood was typical of an older downtown, kind of run down and a little dirty but we felt safe to walk around (it was not as nice as Munich though). It's definitely an older hotel but the lobby was very nice and the staff was great. A breakfast buffet is included and from what we saw, it looked great. Unfortunately we had an early flight the next morning and couldn't sample it. They also provide a free mini-bar in a small refrigerator. It only contained water, orange juice and two beers but the funny part was that it wasn't cooled. The light came on but it was room temperature. I guess that could be a European preference but why would it be in a refrigerator if it wasn't intended for cooling? The rooms were generously sized, clean and well equipped but dated. The beds were comfortable but consisted of two twin beds instead of a double. We also rented a triple room for our three teen aged daughters and they had three twin beds, which was perfect for them. Overall, I'd say it was great for our needs; close to the train station, convenient to the airport, clean and reasonably priced. However, if I was staying for a week, I think I'd find something in a better neighborhood that was closer to shopping, etc.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Easy transport to the Frankfurt airport. We walked across the street and grabbed the subway, which runs every fifteen minutes or so. The ride was about also about fifteen minutes. Tickets were only 10EU for our family of five. It dropped us directly in the airport terminal.

Perfect, It was a great surprise

Needed a hotel for a short stay (2 days) between flights. I was concerned about the area(from what I heard) but the hotel and staff were so professional, It made all the difference. The look and feel of an old world hotel that has everything you would want, realizing that it is now brand new. The location was better than perfect with ease getting back to the airport with lots of luggage for us to handle. The city is vibrant. I never felt unsafe. I will gladly stay there again the next time we pass thru Frankfurt. Believe me there are plenty of iffy hotels to be found but this is not one them. My hat off to the hotel and all those that work there.

As you can see were were very pleased, the service was so good. complimentary coffee cake and bar fridge was amazing and very welcome, and the awesome breakfasts helped to make it an excellent stay. Location was not exactly wonderful but very close to public transport and 15 min walk away form the city center. WE would recommend it highly The only negative was the smoke smelling carpets in the corridors

Hotel Monopol in Frankfurt

Hotel Monopol is a decent hotel. Although located next to the Main Railway Station, I had very quiet room. Drinks in the minibar are for free, which is nice, if you would like to have a soft drink. The staff was friendly.

The hotel is very well located

The hotel is very well located right across from the main station in Frankfurt. It has all the charm of a 100 year hotel - high ceilings, older furnishings, marble floors, chandeliers, a heritage-listed facade, atmosphere and charm. An excellent buffet breakfast is included in the price, along with free mini-bar in the room and all-day refreshments in the lobby. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Certainly some things are old, but everything works. The double entry doors to the room are unusual and quirky, but the windows are well sound-proofed and unless you did as my wife insisted and slept with the windows open, you will have no issues with noise. However, if you don't like older style hotels - simple, book elsewhere. And I'm sure they'll have a flat screen TV in the room the next time I stay. Will definitely use this hotel again if the occasion arises.

good location in need of new carpet

Good service, with a "restaurant" that has a "bistro menu." Meaning it is quite limited. The lobby is spacious and well-appointed. The rooms are rather ordinary, but the beds are clean and comfortable. The location being next to the central train station (Hauptbahnhoff) is perhaps it's strongest draw for the business traveller needing to go to other destinations throughout the region. Good front desk service, free amenities in the room, a good breakfast, and evening snacks made for a nice stay.
