The Steinberger is centrally located in the middle of the square that is at that center of the tourist area of the City. The restaurant is phenomenal, the staff is friendly and helpful. Great hotel.

Great hotel & location
The "Saxe", as they called it, was perfectly located, in the old section and lovely in old world architecture and modern art. Walking around the platz was always rewarding since many gather out front of the Martin Luther statue and dine at the many cafes and restaurants that have sprung up nearby. Walking to the castle (for the Green Vault) or the Zwinger (for the magnificent porcelain collection or the Old Masters Museum) or in the opposite direction for the newly re-opened Neue Masters' museum is so easy. Also, Opera House tickets were easy to obtain for same-day performances and very reasonable. Reception was fine, but sometimes hurried. Two computers are placed uncomfortably in the lobby and all instructions are in Deutsch (regardless of indicating English) and cost by the minute (this may be a difference observed because we had stayed in a more business-style hotel in Berlin where they had a separate Business Ctr and computer use was free.) Breakfast bar was very good, but not as vast as some. Room reserved through [...] was clean, well decorated, but very small and an interior/no-view location. All-in-all a 4.75/5.0 rating.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
All old world attractions are easily within walking distance but more lay only a tram-ride away! In taking the city bus tour, we noticed the Hygiene Museum and decided to go back on a later day. (Bus tours allow for this first-time viewing and then selecting sites that you'd like to return to later and see up-close.) The Hygiene Museum was surprisingly interesting and we joined several school groups at our viewing time. It explores the human condition from male/female attraction (with special exhibit on Beauty), conception (by American puritanical standards, quite brazen but by the reaction of German high-schoolers, not too surprising), birth, living (with various obstacles like disease but also nutrition) and death. Many interactive exhibits, for which my friend and I confirmed our beleifs that we have lost a lot of balance (while continuously falling off a timed balance beam), have lost a lot of sight and hearing, but not our enjoyment of living. Lunch was also a pleasure in the museum as the healthy salad was assembled and arranged artistically by the young woman who greeted us at the bar. A fun contrast to the other, more traditional museums.

Very satisfactory stay in Dresden
Very desirable location within easy walking distance of principal sights. Quiet, clean, very pleasant staff. Excellent breakfast -- try to snag a seat on the balcony. Restaurant/cafe out in front on the square was delightful, good views, good food, very agreeable staff. I would certainly recommend it and stay there again

Wonderful hotel, perfect location
We visited as tourists, stayed 3 nights. It was October, but very cold (snow/sleet). The hotel room was wonderfully comfortable, clean and spacious. The hotel is superbly located for tourists, we had a fabulous view of the Frauenkirchen and other rebuilt buildings. Close to excellent transporation as well. One comment: the housemaid needed training! She walked right into our room around 9 a.m. without a knock, when neither of us were dressed. Restaurant looked great, but we felt too casually dressed to go there for dinner (in our travel clothes). Breakfasts were wonderful.

Best Location in Dresden!
We arrived early and were quickly moved into an available room. There was no queen bed available, but after a quick telephone call two twin beds were pushed together and the room was ready immediately. The staff was courteous and attentive. The hotel is right next to the Frauenkirche and all of the sights in Dresden. Many restaurants and high quality shopping immediately adjacent.

Don't bother going out to find a good restaurant. One of the best restaurants in Dresden is right in the hotel.

Gorgeous hotel!
This hotel was awesome. Right smack in the historic center of Dresden located just steps away from the Frauenkirche in Altstadt. Hotel staff was very friendly, professional, with excellent command of English. The hotel is also conveniently located just two stops and a short walk from the Hauptbanhof main train station in Dresden. Breakfast is very pricey if not included. Lots of choices nearby though. Would definitely stay here again.

Right in the center of it all. A short walk to all of the feature attractions and museums in historic center. The hotel is also centrally located near a large selection of restaurants and shopping.
