art'otel cologne, by park plaza

When we arrived at the hotel there was still some rubbish left from the guest staying there before, we advised the reception and they cleaned, but it left a bad impression at first, however we stayed there for 4 days and we enjoyed a lot. the room was very comfortable, the views beautiful, its a modern and new hotel, the staff at the reception was really nice, in the restaurant they could be better...overall was really good, I would stay there again, rates are quite good for what you get.

The art 'otel was only a 10-15 min walk from the main station and right opposite the chocolate museum which was good. If you're after basic, clean, comfy, quiet, easy and econimical? Stay here. I've always thought that you can judge a hotel by the bed and bathroom. Luckily the art 'otel scores well on both. The beds were very comfy and even though my girlfriend is a VERY light sleeper, even she managed to get a good night's sleep. The bathroom was very good also with an excellent walk-in shower which had almost instant hot water. Just what you need on a cold winter morning. We went for the Christmas markets and there is a medieval market just outside the chocolate museum (which was great) opposite but it was very small compared to the others so we weren't there very long. We found the best markets were the one at Rudolfplatz, Neumarkt and Heumarkt and of those three, we liked the Neumarkt the best. It's very close to the Dom and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby including an Irish pub which has EPL Football on :o). I would recommend a restaurant called Poncho just round the corner from the Neumarkt. It's an Argentinian steakhouse and the fillet steak was simply superb!! I like my food (meat in particular) and both mine and my Girlfriend's steak was cooked perfectly. Service was great too, our waiter appeared to be fluent in about 4-5 languages and was chatting away to all the diners in their native tongues. The local Kolsch (brew) are always nice so make sure to try a few and of course don't forget to drink a couple mugs of Gluhwein to warm you up!! Anyway, bored now so....... to summerize. We really enjoyed our trip to Cologne and would very much recommend the art 'otel as a good base for your visit.

We loved our hotel and the food was amazing in the restaurant. We visited the Chocolate Factory which was a two minute walk and enjoyed the city of Cologne.

clean rooms, nice arty environment, free WiFi, excellent location on Rhine and near the Dom.

Der Aufenthalt im Hotel wurde insbesondere von den Mitarbeitern der Rezeption sehr positiv gestaltet - Herzliches Willkommen, sowie offen für Feedback. Das Design und die Lage sind hervorragend auch das Dinner im Restaurant war sehr gut. Leider wurde mein Zimmer nach dem Frühstück bereits gereinigt (Bad, Handtücher entfernt etc.) - auch machte die Reinigungskraft keine Anstalten das Zimmer zu verlassen, als ich reinkam - auch nicht nach Aufforderung. Habe der Rezeption Feedback gegeben und bin hier auf offene Ohren gestossen. Ich würde jederzeit wieder dort übernachten.
