The TOP CityLine Hotel Koenigshof is an 82-room, family owned hotel in the center of Cologne, right beside the famous cathedral. Guests here enjoy traditional hospitality and personalized service. Location, location, location!
I picked this hotel because I wanted one close to the major attractions in Cologne. It's 30 seconds from the Dom, 30 seconds from the Ludwig Museum, 10 seconds from the MAK design museum and 45 seconds from the train. The hotel is inviting, nicely furnished. The staff is nice and friendly. Breakfast was pretty good..not overwhelming but substantial. The room was OK size wise with a nice bathroom and great shower. Would definitely stay there again.

Koenigshof in Cologne
In the end, the hotel was OK. The website was not specific about room size - so I booked a single room (automatically assigned for one adult traveler). When I checked in, I got a very small (read: very small!) room with no air conditioning. Considering the sweltering heat (95°F), I asked for a room with air conditioning - which they offered as a second option only - this room was a double (with 2 beds). This is the right size, as a minimum - and the room was clean, with a full bathroom. They did not charge me additionally for the larger room. Unfortunately, the bathroom smelled of mildew. The breakfast was good - standard for Germany (forget the "continental" breakfast in the USA, which consists of Walmart packaged leftovers). The hotel does not have a lobby, or any other amenities. Internet is provided for a cost per month - not a convenient choice for a short stay, but you can go to Starbucks and get wi-fi for free. Perfect location for walking the old town area.
