Historic hotel with upscale modern conveniences
The Best Western Bellvue in Boppard, Germany was very comfortable with wonderful antique furniture and artwork furnishing the lobby and common areas throughout the hotel. Although the elevator worked just fine (with a leather bench inside)we
often took the staircase because it was a lovely experience to climb the grand staircase and take in the portraits of German families from the 1800's and early 1900's. The hotel overlooks the Rhine river with cruise boats docked just outside the front of the hotel. There are many wonderful small restaurants and shops that we frequented within blocks of the hotel and the train station was also within close walking distance. There are ruins of an ancient Roman fortress situated just blocks away and historic St. Severus church just around the corner. The room was very large, clean, and modern with a sitting area in addition to the king size bed. There was a single bed situated in a cozy nook of the room where our son slept. We had access to the internet and plenty of channels to watch on TV. The bathroom was also clean and modern. Breakfast was complementary and was set up in a lovely dining room that overlooks the Rhine.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
Although the hotel restaurant was excellent, we were given a recommendation to eat at a small restaurant called Severus Stuble. Excellent authentic German food!
