Easy locale, clean & comfy

Some construction happening both on the block and directly behind the building in the fall 2011, but good value, nice to be able to rent bikes at a moment's notice right in front of the hotel and good restaurants/bars in the immediate vacinity. Good wifi accessibility.

Good, clean, simple hotel with a nice vibe. No free breakfast, and free wireless wasn't speedy (you can upgrade to "speedy" for Eu15/day). Met my expectations generally with modern, neat, rooms.

Chic, affordable, central location

This hotel is great for the young at heart, mature, and independent minded traveler looking for style and location at a fair and affordable price. This was our second trip to Berlin this winter and we really wanted a centralized location near a major subway station with plenty of shops, markets etc. Berlin is a very spread out type of city, so location is everything, and hotels near the tourist sites/sights in the Mitte are often pricey. The Art'otel (City Center West location) was walking distance from the S-bahn Savigny Platz and U-bahns Urlandhr/Kufurstendam train stations. There were plenty of mid-priced restaurants around (try Ali Baba's for great pizza),a pharmacy (Apotheke), supermarket (Kaiser's), and plenty of clothing and fashion shops. Kufurstendamm (a major street with plenty to see and do) is parallel to the hotel's street is helps with orientation. We took public transportation everywhere and getting to the major sites (Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin Wall, KaDeWe, Museum Island, the Jewish Museum, etc.) was never a problem. Our room was spotless and very stylish with the framed Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe pop art posters depicted in the promotional photos for the hotel. Our room looked just like the picture! The beds were simple but very comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious with Yves Rocher soap, shower gel and lotion provided. But make sure to bring an alarm clock or a device with the time with you. For some reason, I notice that this is not standard in the European hotels I've been to. And unlike some American hotels, breakfast is not included in the price. But there are plenty of cafes around, and there is a restaurant on site. We chose to sample the neighborhood cuisine instead. Internet access (LAN and wireless) were provided free of charge with an an access code, but my computer couldn't access the connection for the two days I was there. It wasn't important to me, but I'm sure I could have called reception for a quick fix. The staff was very helpful.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you're there for at least 2 days and plan to see the sites via public transportation, make sure to get the Berlin Welcome card (at the airport or Hauptbanof train station tourist center). It covers your subway and bus tickets and gives you a percentage off of some of the museums, sites, etc. Comes with handy street and subway maps and city guide as well.

Lovely

I enjoyed our stay at the Art Otel so much, The staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked for directions. The hotel is young and hip and the lounge area was fun. I would definately go back. I loved the decor in the rooms and the lounge area.

Simple, clean and modern hotel

The art'otel was a really simple and clean hotel. Very modern and casual. The room was a bit small but very efficient. If you don't mind a 10 minute walk to the S-Bahn this hotel is great for the price. Just blocks away from the Kurfurstendamm shopping district and there is an internet cafe about 1 block from the hotel. Only spent 2 nights in Berlin but plan on going back. Great modern and clean city.
