Basic but just what you need for a weekend break
Staying 2 nights on a first visit to Berlin. Knew we weren't going to spend much time in the hotel so went for something basic but decent and this hotel dilivered! The location was excellent with a tube station very nearby.

Excellent but...
Noisy!!! Unfortunately a big construction is taking place by the hotel and construction starts 6 AM, if this is not a problem, go ahead and book it.

Great city break base
We stayed here while on a city break with friends. In the Mitte area, it's well located for restaurants and bars, although you need to explore a little to get away from the tourist drag. Clean, efficient hotel, friendly staff (apart from one surly barman), nice bar area to meet in, great breakfast buffet, decent sized rooms with good facilities - a perfect place to stay. But if you're looking for something with a little Berlin character, best choose somewhere else, it lacks personality and is a little clinical.

Location, location, location
Location is great, right in Mitte and close to Ubahn, supermarkets, café and ethnic restaurants. Great amenities and confort. Contemporary and modern. Confortable room and excelent bathroom. Free internet acess at the very nice lounge. Expensive internet rate per day. Applying for the Mélia customer card gives a great discount at breakfast. Bar and chambermaid staff were very nice. Reception and conciergerie were far from kind and availability.

If you like neat interiors without WiFi.
I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights, and I did sleep well! The bed was soooo comfortable. The room was clean, spacious, modern and all that, but hey... to get WiFi to one's room, one should pay something like 9 euros per 24 hrs?? Come on!

Nice New Year getaway
Very nice hotel, good location close to underground station. More English speaking channels on TV would have been appreciated. Only news channels in English available :-(

Good base to explore Berlin
Good location near U bahn with frequent trains and good connections. Rooms are comfortable, clean and serviced to a high standard. Staff are friendly and efficient and provide an excellent level of service. Breakfast is a little expensive at 16€ but there are plenty of cafes nearby that provide a good, cheaper alternative

Comfortable stay
I am 26 and stayed for three nights at Tryp with my other half. Lovely room, very comfy beds (and he is very picky). The shower was huge, easily room for two, probably room for four if that's what you're after! Complimentary HARIBO sheep on our pillows and bergamot scented shower wash, shampoo, and body lotion - which they restock daily. There was no kettle, but the hotel serves hot drinks and there are tonnes of coffee places opposite and nearby which are very reasonably priced. The staff were brilliant; attentive, polite, and very helpful in showing you exactly where you need to go whether it be bars and clubs, or tourist sites. There is a sauna (although we didn't utilise it) which the staff are happy to heat up for you in advance if you ask them. The decor of the hotel was modern and quirky, good for business people and young couples like ourselves. We did not see any families or children but this was a selling point personally. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was quite expensive and the hotel is surrounded by great cafes where you can get much more for your euros. The location of the hotel is good, you can walk to Friedrichstrasse from there in about 15mins, alternatively there is a U-Bahn stop (naturkundemuseum) right outside. You can travel directly to Friedrichstrasse on the RB14 train from Schoenefeld airport, I believe Berlins only other airport (Tegal) is much closer. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and will definitely be using Tryp again :)

Don't waste money on a cab from the airport, use the tourist info at the airport to find where you need to go, public transport in Berlin is very good. They will offer you a tourist travel card which is 30 something euros per person and will give you some minimal discounts on attractions. Unless you intend to travel on the U-Bahn continuously for more than three days and are desperate to visits lots of attractions you have to pay for (don't forget the reichstaag, Jewish memorial, and Brandenburg gate are free) then it is a huge rip off! you can buy an all-day travel ticket for zones A and B (you probably won't use zone C but check your map) for use on both U and S Bahn transport for 6.50 euros per person.

Great Hotel at excellent price
Stayed 3 nights for Berlin Marathon. Check in was excellent and advised to join loyalty programme to get 50% off breakfast. Staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Room was excellent with really modern feel. Nice big open shower in bathroom, only downside was lack of UK TV channels if you are that interested. Breakfast was excellent with plenty refreshment of food from start to finish. 16 euros is a bit steep but at half price excellent value. Hotel was 5 minute walk to tube station taking you to various areas within the city. Couple of small shops nearby for any needs.
