Ecellent hotel very central. Staff extremely helpful and recommended some good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Room spotlessley clean but bed a little soft for my liking.

What you would expect
Walking distance to all the major points of interest, and a short walk to the main subway station. The rooms are somewhat uninspired, though well maintained. The central atrium is impressive. It is unfortunate that they feel the need to charge for WiFi internet access. It should be included in the high price.

Vegetarians should try "Cookies Cream" which is literally in the concrete alley behind the hotel where people are welding vehicle parts. You will think you are in the wrong place, but you are not. It's a very hip hangout with very good vegetarian food. Make sure to make a reservation, it fills up on weekends.

comfort in Berlin
we explored Berlin for ten days, actually not enough time if you love great museums and 20th century history. Staff wonderful, helpful, efficient, attentive. Only drawback is that the pool is a little claustrophobic, gloomy, even a little chilly.

Buy breakfast supplies in the Friedrichsstrasse Bahnhof supermarket a few blocks north of the hotel and store these items (OJ, cheeses, rolls, etc.) in the room minibar. There is also a Dunkin'Donuts and a Mc Donalds enroute if you prefer.

Great hotel.
We were only in Berlin for 2 days but this hotel was perfect for our stay. It is situated between all the main tourist attractions in old East and West Berlin. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We needed the name of a good place to eat and they came up with several suggestions and picked one for us that was convenient to the hotel so we didn't have to travel far. The room was very nice and relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. I would recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying in Berlin.

Long walk from hotel
West of Check point charlie and south of Potsdamer Platz is one of the longest sections of the Berlin Wall still standing. I would recommend walking the extra distance to see it because it gives you a true sense of what life must have been like during the cold war. There is also an outdoor museum depicting life during the period below the wall.

air conditioned - convenient location
Used hotel as base during vacation in Berlin. U-Bahn (U6 Franzosische Str.) directly in front of hotel makes access to all city points easy. Beautiful room, bath, lobby, pool and fitness center all air-conditioned. Location adjacent to Unter de Linden, DB Friedrichstr train station, Brandenburg Gate, dining, etc. all are walking distance.

Info station inside DE Train station provides multi day passes (1, 3, or 5 days) for all public transportation and discounts to most museums. Worth the price during our 5 day visit.

Great stay
Great location in Berlin, right next to a U Bahn stop. Taxis were easy to come by. Walking distance to Brandenburg Gate. GREAT air conditioning, very clean room & bathroom, and I am VERY PICKY. Restful sleep and curteous staff. Bar and restaurant were nice, we ate once at the restaurant and had drinks twice at the bar.

Great location, service and price
The conciere was particularly helpful in recommending reasonably priced and good restaurants. He also helped with opera reservations and other matters. Hotel was elegant and quiet.

Breakfast choices around the area are far less expensive than the hotel price fixed buffet breakfast. Try Cafe Einstein located on Under den Linden for breakfast.
