Nice Hotel

This was a lovely hotel, close to the u-bahn, in a neighborhood where my daughter and I did not feel unsafe when walking in the neighborhood at night. The desk staff spoke excellent English and was helpful in making phone calls to make a reservation for a local tourist attraction. Because only smoking rooms were available at the cheapest room rate, we splurged and paid an extra $20 for the business room which was huge! Full kitchen (though no dishes, silverware, or pots and pans needed if you wanted to actually use it), roomy living room, plus sleeping alcove. Wireless internet ended up being free when we asked at the desk, but as we were at the far end of the hotel, the wireless signal did not reach our room. We had to sit half way down the hall to get a signal, or in the lobby. It took a bit longer than I had expected to use the public transportation to the touristy center (about 40-45 min. to get to Alexanderplatz for example), but I would still stay here again because of the spacious room and cheaper rates.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Do try the nearby restaurant, Zum Topgfucker, where we had the most amazing dinners that we went back a second night. Service was not speedy (but it's not anywhere in Germany) as it seemed like a husband and wife team snglehandedly cooked and served all the diners, but the food was delicious and of the traditional Germany fare that we wanted to make sure we tried while in Germany.
