Great location

Maritim Mitte Berlin has a great location convenient to the best sites in the city. The rooms are nice and the staff helpful. However, despite being a modern hotel catering to international guests, there is no free wifi and the in-house internet (ethernet based) runs on a poorly functional and overpriced pay-for use system.

Great for a long weekend!

The receptionist when we arrived was great and really helpful. My friend needed to be able to work all of Friday and there were problems with the internet connection though two engineers\maintenance guys came to our room to check the connection. In the end had to call work and request leave. Not good! The hotel is very well located. We could walk to the main sites, some shops and a rail station just a few minutes away. Breakfast and dinner were overpriced but as we were centrally located we could get food nearby easily. A kettle and tea making facilities in the room would have gone down a treat. The fact that we couldn't get consistent internet access made a mockery of the 4 star business hotel with conference facilities claim! Though the room was clean and comfy. There wasn't a great choice of films available in the rooms so the first night when we arrived was a bit dry without even WIFI access to watch something on my friend's ipad. The location is the winning factor of this hotel.

Maritim Mitte Berlin

My wife and I only care about location, safety, and cleanliness when it comes to a hotel. This hotel had the perfect location, it was clean, and seemed very safe/safe location. The minor negatives for me mainly were there is no free internet anywhere that I could find in all of Berlin including the hotel. Also, be prepared to pay a lot of money for any type of local phone call. The city is seriously controlled by their communications companies and robbed by costs.

If you want to see the Reichstag you MUST sign up 3 days ahead of when you want to get in. Also, Kaiser Wilhelm's Church isn't visible since they build a building around it?!??!?! Watch out for bike riders. They rule the city and can ride anywhere they want and really don't care about you as a human.

Great location

Many sights within easy walk including Museum Island, Checkpoint Charlie, Brandenburg Gate, Topography of Terror. City tour busses leave from just around the corner on Unter den Linden, cost €15 pp. Starbucks, McDonalds, Dunkin Doughnuts ect all between hotel and station. Large supermarket (City Markt) located in station (which is about 100m from hotel). The hotel location can scarcely be bettered as a centre for sightseeing, can walk everywhere. Nice bar in hotel lobby, tho not open till 6. Breakfast expensive, (€23), best look elsewhere. Tram stop very close (if required) plus aforementioned Friedrichstr station for s bahn and regional trains.

Large shopping area including Galerie Lafayette on Friedrichstr across Unter den Linden. Huge book and cd/dvd store directly across from hotel, (Dussmann). "Nolle" near train station good for evening meal.

Great Stay

We went to Berlin for the Christmas Markets, and this hotel was the best location for all the markets around the area. It is also a good location for seeing checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg gate and shopping. The only gripe that we have is that breakfast is not included, and is expensive. You are better off going down to the metro centre which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is also surrounded by shops for you shopaholics out there. The rooms were spotless, and so was all the public areas. They even had a tall real Christmas tree in reception, and it was beautiful. The corridors to the rooms are light but the carpet is very slightly worn in places.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There are several good restaurants in the area around the hotel one is a small bar that has good food and beer but it is very busy,so be prepared to wait, it is worth it. If you go to the Metro area there a few restaurants that are a bit more expensive under the tracks. Most restaurants have English menus if you ask.

Weekend break

Fantastic 3 day break in the heart of Berlin, hotel situated right in the centre of the city and easy to find from the bus drop off from the airport. The staff were very helpful on book in and helpful information on sorounding places to see, good security as the room card also operates the lift and only allows you onto your floor . 300mtrs to Brandenburg gate, 7oomtrs to the Riechstag. Nice hotel and nice staff.

Great location but the lack of breakfast and internet

Highly efficient hotel. Big comfortable room. Very quiet. However, the lack of internet and breakfast in the price of the hotel makes this hotel pricey if one were to purchase breakfast separately. I got a better deal at the Euros Star hotel around the corner.

Maritim Proarte Hotel Berlin: Good value

I had a 'comfort room' which only cost a little more per day but which gave me a room at higher floor and two free soft drinks per day. The location is great for sightseeing or visiting Humboldt University. There are a number of decently priced, nice restaurants nearby.

good location, very near Friedrichstrasse Railway Station

, only 6.40 Euros for 2 people to connect to Schoenefeld airport instead of the 40 Euros in a taxi!! Also super choice of restaurants on the Spree river bank, which is not very far away. Brandenburg gate etc are easily reached and also going the other direction to the Gendarmariemarkt, with lots more restaurants to choose from. Staff were friendly enough at reception, but not overly so at breakfast, which was of course very nice, but also very expensive. Saying that Berlin is not cheap on the whole and there is still a lot of building work going on that will not be finished for a considerable time.
