Grand City Central Hotel Berlin Airport

We are transferred to Holiday Inn which seemed to be an upgrade. The staff is nice and paid cab for us to get to Holiday Inn, so we are happy!

Once we arrived to this hotel after being paid for, the staff just told us, "sorry we have no rooms available, we will transfer you to another hotel." We aked for some type of compensation at least (breakfast...) but nothing else was given, the staff was rude in a way and just called a taxi to take us to some other hotel. didn't need to repay of course.

First and foremost, I chose this hotel for the price. It was a steal for a single private room, and it was on the subway line headed to the center of the city. I stayed at the Grand City Central hotel for one week in the beginning of August, during which time I was visiting friends and taking bike tours. Pros: I was extremely satisfied with the cleanliness and atmosphere of the room. The cleaning staff made my bed, vacuumed, and replaced towels each day. I accidentally broke a drinking glass and was pleased to find that they didn't charge me upon checkout. The location was very serene, safe and peaceful, which was important to me. There is also a direct bus to and from TXL (Bus 128), which is incredibly convenient as there are no subway lines to the airport. Finally, I was able to find restaurants, ATMs, and a supermarket (Kaufland) on the walk from the metro to the hotel, which supplied necessities at great prices. Cons: I was slightly surprised that I had to pay a steep amount to use wireless internet for five days. The location, though peaceful and with easy airport access, is quite far from the must-see parts of the city. It took 30-40 minutes to commute to and from Alexanderplatz.

Good value close to the airport - the rooms were newly redecorated and clean. The staff was professional and courtious. It was the perfect place to stay on the way in or out of the city. Metro station a 10 minute walk from hotel.

Very decent. Rate a bit high for a simple 3 star but a decent breakfast buffet compensates it. Location was great, pretty central, next to a Kaufland grocery store, a very short walk to the subway station & lots of restaurants & bakeries. Pretty safe, we walked around late at night & other people were always around. Cons: the hotel does NOT have twin beds, they only have single beds, so if you're traveling with a friend you cannot get a twin bed for each of you & you both have to sleep in the same bed or take turns sleeping on the floor. The bathroom is tiny as can be and can'y move, with the shower being very close the toilet. As for the staff, some were very friendly & all smiles while one lady was as rude as can be. Location was nice, however, I do need to note it's next to a Sikh temple and there's a cemetary behind it, neither of which bothered me because both are extremely peaceful. So bottom line, it was clean, quite, safe, great location, decent price. I would stay there again for the price. Only problem is the lack of twin beds.

I needed a room near airport for an early morning flight the next day. Room was clean and quiet . Only complaint was shower curtain which was about 6 inches too long, blocking drain. Night staff not very friendly, others fine.

That's always a plus in my book. Lovely rooms, next to airport. Shockingly Rude staff. Shower swings from burning hot to freezing cold. I'd stay there again if I needed a cheap airport hotel

The hotel was pretty clean and decent. It reminded me of a college dorm room a little. It was great for the price. I would recommend it, but it is 5-10 min drive to airport actually. Not sure why it is called airport hotel.

We stayed here because it was a cheap room fairly close to the airport, just for one night on our way out of Germany. We spent the evening seeing sights in Berlin by car, and then parked at the hotel. We were able to walk to an Italian restaurant nearby--there were three within walking distance, but two of them didn't take credit cards. The room was clean and modern, with a hair dryer in the room, good beds, and free parking. The Internet was down the whole time we were there, which was a real problem for us. The room smelled strongly of smoke and felt stuffy, even with the window open. Airplanes passing overhead created noise, but it wasn't bad during the night. OK for the price, but we will find other options next time.
