Das Stue is a member of Design Hotels There are some places that just feel right - A peaceful beach - An authentic restaurant - Or a flawlessly furnished living room - Das Stue is one such place -which is Danish for living room - The 80 room and suite hotel is housed in the former Royal Danish Embassy - Originally constructed in the 1930s the historic building blends elegantly with a modern addition - As the art director and designer of the public spaces such as the lobby - bar and restaurant - Patricia Urquiola has created an atmosphere like that of the luxurious living room of good friends - Here Paco Perez with his restaurant concept 5 Culinary Art by Paco Perez shows why he has been honored with a total of three Michelin stars in his native Spain - In the adjacent bar - conceptualized by one of the capitals most creative nightlife impresarios - native Berliners and guests mingle - For maximum revitalization the spa offers a variety of treatments ranging from fitness to relaxation - The scenic location between the 210-acre Tiergarten Park and the Berlin Zoo as well as its proximity to the cultural highlights of the city makes Das Stue an urban retreat of a different sort -

Great place! Worth the money??

Das Stue: My wife and I stayed at Das Stue for 2 nights in late Feb 2014. Our room was a basic room but we REALLY liked the room, the bed, the shower etc. Considering we were there on an off season and got probably one of the best rates, it was still very expensive. The hotel has a beautiful lobby and the restaurant/bar was also very beautiful. We chose not to eat there as the focus seemed to be shellfish which we do not enjoy but primarily because you will spend a minimum of $100 per plate. Multiple courses easily in the >$200/plate range. Additionally, we used the bikes one day that are available through the hotel, parked there two nights and used a few items from the minibar. Those 3 things added $200. For two nights we were over $800 and breakfast was not included. We had a great stay and since we enjoyed our stay it's tough to say not worth the money. If you are bargain shopping 4 or 5 star hotels, I would say you can find some really nice places for much less money. When you pay that much for the room you would think breakfast or parking or bikes or something is included. One negative thing is the lighting system in the room is a bit complicated and ours malfunctioned creating an overhead light that would not turn off. Staff had to come to our room late at night when we were already for bed and spent 15 minutes in our room fixing it. It was awkward. Just an apology, that's it.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

Bikes from the Das Stue were a great option for getting around Berlin. Walking Berlin is too much and just not efficient if you don't have a lot of time. We got around great on bikes. I actually tried to sign up for usage of the city bikes but unsuccessful waste of time at a confusing kiosk experience.
