We (5 visitors) were in Germany to visit my son in law's German family. His grandmother lives in Bad Homburg where this hotel is located. The hotel was an excellant choice because it was near to her but also near the bus and train stations. The shopping plaza was just one block away, providing several blocks of extensive, local shopping, where you could purchase anything you may want or need. There is a park connecting to the hotel grounds which I can say is indescribeable...it is beautiful, quiet, like walking through an art gallery, walking through a forest with a babbling brook, an Oriental temple awaits providing serenity. If you are seeking quiet moments of peace, then you could spend your entire vacation in the park. There is a casino on the far side of the park to add some spark to your visit. It is important to note the hotel is near the bus and train stations, as this is the best way to travel city to city, and cheapest. The hotel staff gets a 5 star rating from this group. The front desk staff were the nicest staff we have encountered in all our years of travel. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs, made knowledgeable suggestions, and was overall well informed and courteous. If you need or want something, do not hesitate to ask the front desk, as they truly mean it when they say, just call us. We had 2 children with us, so the indoor pool and facilities were perfect for entertaining them when we had no other plans. The rooms are spacious, clean, the bathroom large, with a deep bathtub and plenty of linens. The cleaning staff was prompt, friendly and understanding of our schedule about leaving at different times. My only negative comment is about the hotel dining and internet expense. The breakfast buffet is convenient but very over priced at 17 Euro per person. The variety of foods was not especially good, and was really only like a snack bar. I know we eat a hearty breakfast in the U.S., and this is not the custom in Germany, but for the price you pay, you do not get your money's worth. The cost of Internet access is outrageous. It is 20 Euro per day. At the exchange rate today, the cost would be about 55 dollars per day! Overall, this is definitely a keeper. One of the most enjoyable hotel stays I have encountered in over 30 years of travel. Do not overlook this gem. It is a diamond. But the best adventure of all was my 5 year old granddaughter....We could not convince her the bidet was not a small sink just for children!

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

The local shopping plaza was only 1 block up from the hotel. The plaza is an avenue closed to traffic, where there are shops and restaurants on each side of the street. The variety is endless, providing you with about anything you could want from a cola to a $10,000 diamond ring. If you want a cola and do not want to pay mini bar prices, buy a LARGER one at a grocery store (p.s. you can return the bottle for a deposit) and put in the room refridgerator. Also if you do not like mineral or tonic water you must look carefully at the type water you buy, otherwise you get tonic water. Same hint applies about water in your room, buy outside hotel. I am a thrifty consumer and try to save money where I can. Ride the bus and train to sightseeing locations. It is much cheaper than taxi, and the schedules run within minutes of each other.
